Not quite as old, but Sela Ward in the '70s. In addition to being a cheerleader, she was the Homecoming Queen one year.

Archie stunned LSU with a 26-23 Ole Miss win in Jackson in 1969 (preventing an SEC title and a perfect 10-0 season), but in 1970 he broke his left arm and came back to Tiger Stadium playing wearing a cast.
LSU beat the Rebels 61-17, locking up an Orange Bowl appearance against 10-0-1 Nebraska. Tiger Stadium rained oranges from the stands as fans threw them in celebration. The photo is of Ronnie Estay, an All-American D-lineman for LSU, sacking him behind the goalline for a safety.
EDIT2: Here it is...

1908 LSU Tigers
LSU's First National Championship team...(if LSU would claim the other 5 LSU has)
10-0
7 Shutouts
442 points scored in 460 minutes of playing time
Only gave up 11 points all season

Archie was a tough SOB back in the day....actually all of them were. Didn't have pansy injuries like they do today.

The 1908 LSU Tigers National Championship team practicing in Cuba for the Bacardi Game:
They were led by the immortal Doc Fenton:
Y. A. Tittle was mentioned earlier...The former LSU QB (some would say the greatest LSU QB) and NFL Hall of Famer played in the late 1940s for the Tigers and was MVP of the Cotton Bowl. He went on to throw 36 TD passes for the NY Giants in 1963...a number that would not be broken until Brett Favre threw 38 in the 1990s. He was photographed in Pittsburgh in what is considered one of the most iconic football pictures ever taken:

That would have to be Coach Albert P. Simmons, a graduate of Yale University, with Yale clearly being the greatest football power of the 19th century.
