Oh my gosh, all the Oxford talk is making me miss living there. I graduated in 2003, and haven't been back much since, so I'll just start throwing out some names.

Is Oxford Steak Company still open? They did a special on Thursday nights called Beer and Burgers where you got a burger, fries, and all the draft beer you could drink from like 5-8. All for 5 or 6 bucks. It was glorious.

I remember on some weekend nights you couldn't even get into the parking lot at the Chicken on a Stick Chevron.

Coop de Ville, I miss it terribly. You wouldn't get your food for like 2 hours, and it'd be soggy as hell, but it was great at about 3AM.

Is that the same as the one in Hattiesburg? I always call in an order there when I'm visiting friends. Chicken alfredo sandwich with extra cheese and alfredo on the side. Pretty righteous after a day of drinking.

DS, I hate you now because you let others in on this secret.

It is a great little restaurant.

Thanks for the suggestion! Never knew it was there.

I'm planning on meeting my daughter at LSU for dinner tonight and this is where I think we will go.... That is if I can talk her out of TJ's or Sushi.

Hidden Gem

The Whig and The White Mule are both literally hidden from Main Street, being that they're both below street level. Awesome places too.

Lyn D's Cajun Gypsy on Poplar is my favorite place in Fayetteville. Anytime I am home I pop in for some brew soup.

Here's a place that most people in Fayetteville probably don't even know about: Pop's BBQ

Here's a story in the Fayetteville Flyer where they were named Best Chicken Fried Steak in town.

That sounds great, I'll have to strap on my flak jacket and head over there next time I'm in flagship territory.

For Mexican, Mexico Lindo in Homewood. Got shut down and moved to Hoover or something and I didnt even bother going to the new one cause I heard it wasnt the same. Thank God theyre re-opening the Homewood location, that place was my spot.

Oh, and Surin West downtown. I think someone already said it. Best Thai food around

Pablos is good, but I prefer Cozumel in Pelham. Their margaritas are fabulous.

I've never been to The Melting Pot but I've heard it's phenomenal.

Surin West is pretty good. There's another place on that side of town called ROJO thats pretty good too! Bob Dylan gave it a shout out on his radio show about a year or so ago.

Melting pot is good, but doesn't qualify. I've been to them in Cleveland, Chicago, and Ann Arbor

I mentioned my places in Starkville and Tuscaloosa. One great place that is near and dear to me near Oxford is Tri-Becca Allie, located in Sardis, about 20 miles from campus. It is a brick-over NY styled pizzaria and amazing. They finished 2nd at the pizza national championship and are so great. Best pizza I have ever had.

If you go, Dutch and Becca will treat you right! Get the Bianca Verdi pizza.
