As did UT. State knew Cecil had made this situation too big and that it would become public eventually. There was no way State could sign Newton. It would be the equivalent of program suicide.
I know for a fact that Kiffin and staff weren't overly impressed when they watched Newton drop back and pass. There's a reason they never offered Newton a scholarship. They targeted several guys, but they wanted a pro-style quarterback. Once they had Bray, their only need for a quarterback was someone to take the shots for a year so Bray didn't have to. That's why they got Simms.

Auburn knew they were taking a gamble and signing a shady arse player.
quote:
Auburn knew before the firt game that there were questions regarding the recruitment of that shady arse player
Auburn did not know everything that happened at MSU, because MSU did not provide the necessary information to the SEC... Auburn did not commit violations in recruiting Cam and had ZERO dealings with the street agent (Rogers)
quote:
Auburn knew that the shady arse father of that shady arse player whored out his son.
Once Auburn knew this, they ruled him in-eligible... the NCAA reinstated him...
quote:The NCAA said he was eligible, why not play him...
Auburn chose to play his arse anyway.

God this is not that complicated. The tapes allegedly prove that Cam knew his father was shopping him. That little piece of info changes EVERYTHING.
they are having a lot of trouble understanding this. I think we need to make a MS paint slideshow for them.

NCAA rules (Bylaw 12.3.3) do not allow individuals or entities to represent a prospective student-athlete for compensation to a school for an athletic scholarship.
How do the tapes change this??? They do not, Auburn believes that Cecil solicited money at MSU
I've not heard the tapes. However, on speculation, if Cecil solicited and Cam was aware, Cecil could be considered Cam's agent. Cam has gone on record several times stating that he left the decision up to his dad. As an adult, he legally gave his dad the status of agent if his dad solicited money with his knowledge, and if the tapes show that he did, by his or Cecil's admission, then Au would be liable with his eligibility.

He has been 100% accurate since he told me of what happened with Newton as it relates to MSU back in December 2009. He no longer has any association with MSU though so no new info.
Of course he is. Everybody's "source" is 100 percent unimpeachable.
There has been absolutely nothing new come out since the story first broke. There have been different versions of the same story, but nothing new. You'll have to pardon my skepticism.

This would be consistent with Cecil using his street agent (Rogers) to tell MSU that there were other's willing to pay (UT, Okie and AU), but no facts that they were willing to pay.. no phone records, no agent calls, nothing... This was all about getting money from MSU

I'm glad this has all come out around Combine time.

Radio hosts can come foward and say whatever they want, but still, if the tapes were legit, why don't the NCAA or FBI know about them? If they do know about them, that would mean the tapes are evidence in an apparently on-going investigation, and it would be against the law to share the tapes with anyone, especially radio hosts.
Maybe they are real, I don't know, but as of now, none of the points add up.
Reckon there maybe multiple copies of the tapes? And what is stopping a radio host from saying he's heard the tapes? A radio host isn't under investigation by the NCAA or the FBI....

He stole it. Police reports show that he made the statement, "I saw it. I took it."

Correct. UT's only involvement in this is that Cecil was lying to State by saying UT had offered money hoping State would match it. Other than that, UT was not really involved that much.

because you can't reveal evidence on an ongoing investigation because it might compromise the investigation. Doesn't matter if there are multiple tapes. It would still be against the law.
