It was a joke, Nancy.
quote:Meh...probably true. I am not sure he is a complete douche, but he certainly isn't the sharpest tool in the shed and I think he likes himself some Cam Newton.
He's been a douche since he came out of his Momma's womb. A paycheck with a few zeros on it has nothing to do with him being a douche and you know it.

again, did any of those athletes who got a free book run around and call themselves icon? Not surprised you are to dense to get the point.
I think you mean "too" dense.
I'm not sure what anyone calling themselves an icon has to do with the fact your team has been on probation for about the last 20 years and yet you call other teams cheaters.

Protecting him from media to the point he doesn't have to answer questions after the NCG
He answered questions after the SECCG, awards presentation, and Heisman presentation.
And you've heard some of the shite he's said, I think it was a pretty smart move on AU's part to keep him away from the media when all this started breaking

Well, he got his DUIs after he left Alabama so I don't see how your comparison is valid.

It was in response to your post...."Is it shocking with the treatment Newton has been given by everyone around him at AU".
I never mentioned the fans in that statement

Cam Newton is a huge douche and his dad is even worse. It's refreshing to see a few Auburn fans slowly coming out of the haze that he put over you with all the wins.
Oh and my UA stock dropped almost 3% since this announcement.

And Cam Newton called himself an icon after he left AU. My point still stands that fans are going to defend their star players no matter what they do.

Does all of that spinning make you dizzy?

Fwiw, I don't really see anything wrong with him calling himself that. It's no surprise that star athletes are pompous assholes for the most part. He is an icon to AU fans, so he wasn't really lying.

What a sad and untrue statement.

I really think he was trying to be honest when answering the question about his new sponsor deal. He has never been stopped at any level of competition, and is fully aware that he has all of the tools necessary to propel him to superstar status in the NFL.
After the distractions he went through this year and was able to achieve success on the highest level, he probably thinks he is now prepared for anything thrown at him. I just wish he would understand the gravity of a statement like that before he makes it.

He went on to say that he did more in 1 year than others have done in 4 years at their universities.
He didn't mention his other teammates help.
There are some big men in the NFL that will remove that silly little grin he has and ruin those pearly whites, and I can't wait to see it, and I don't even watch the pros.

The funny part is he's probably going to be a pretty good QB in the NFL.
Posted on 2/23/11 at 4:46 pm to gatordmb89
He might wanna keep his mouth shut until he at least takes a snap in the NFL.
Posted on 2/23/11 at 4:47 pm to Ross
who the hell cares? if his ego is way out of line - it will get checked back in the NFL real fast.
IMHO you guys will bitch about anything and everything Cam.

He mentioned the importance of his teammates to his success literally every time he was in front of a microphone during his time at Auburn.

Can we coin the phrase Camsessed?

This. As much as I think some of the adulation of Cam has gone overboard, the pure venom and hatred some people spew about the guy is bizarre. It's almost like Cam Newton has gone to their house and kicked their puppy or something.
