Our pitching looks a little better than even I expected. Our freshmen look really good. Our hitting was good as well. Nola had a couple errors this weekend which is very unlike him, but fielding wasn't too bad this series.
But this was against wake forest, so this doesn't tell us much. The Cal State Fullerton series will tell us a lot.
ETA: And whoever the wake forest 3rd basemen is, is a pretty fricking good fielder. He made 3-4 amazing plays at third today. Props to him.

Pleasantly surprised by our pitching this weekend. I knew what Brandon was capable of as he's a local boy I've been following for a few years. I thought Stanek and Lynch did a great job.
With very few outside practices due to the weather, I think we had a great start.
We broke a record for attendance for the opening series..
All in all great start!
Fire Pel!

CSF already lost twice. They are weak. Princeton is undefeated.

Our freshmen look strong, both pitching and fielding.
I'm stoked. I think we'll be very competitive.

Crouse and Goforth are going to be solid in the Friday and Saturday spots. Goforth has a chance to be special. Crouse is going to be a guy who goes out there and throws strikes and is not going to wow you but get the job done. Huber looked bad finding the zone yesterday but looked dominate today. Morgan looked pretty good yesterday.
Offensively we looked pretty good. We destroyed a pitcher Friday who went 7-0 last year. Newalu at SS is going to be a pretty good 9 hole hitter. (3 for 4 with a double 3/4 the way up the wall). Overbey will be in the running for Freshmen of the year if he hits like he did all year like he did this weekend. Snider struggled but hasn't seen much live pitching because he has been hurt. Yarborugh and Mathis were extremely solid in the 1 and 2 spot in the order. We also stole a lot of bases.
On the whole we swept Wright State who was picked by some to win their conference and be a tournament team. I think we will scare some people this year and if we can solidify our Sunday rotation spot we have a chance to be competitive and have a shot at winning the SEC. But I'm sure something will happen before SEC play and screw us up.

Diamond dogs does sound softballish but I won't hate on their tradition.

What he said. Hively scared the shite out of me on the mound, but stat-tracker hardly tells the whole story and a few people in the know seem to think his rocky performance was attributable lucky hitting and bad bounces. So...

We played lots of small ball. Pitching was in BEASTMODE, Stanek and Moore are Awesome. McKinney looks to be fully recovered from that ACL tear from last year, and he was hitting really well. Kyle Robinson looked improved by a ton. Had 6 RBI's this weekend.

Disappointed in Vinson. May need to look at putting Jacob Morris in his spot. Vinson was a casualty in our line up last year at times IMO.
