It's not the fricking tree. It's the fact that they are part of a tradition that goes back to before you were born. There are AU alums and fans that rolled those trees in the 60's. There would be the same reaction if it was something else that was a part of Auburn, and was taken away.

It was/ is a stupid tradition and the whole world was laughing at you. You shouldn't be arresting Updyke, you should be thanking him.

First. What the guy did was wrong and wished it never happened. Now, playing devil's advocate, what difference is there in disrespecting the tradition part of it and Au fans that claim they've pissed on Bears grave? One is a plant, the other was a living person that a fanbase cherished.
