Yes. SEC rules don't say we have to honor commitments. They aren't going to force us to sign 9 crappy players because of "1st come, 1st serve"

ETA: and I'm not referring to telling them this on signing day. I'm talking about the day that they want to commit.

But you had 8 signing day decisions that year, which is a remarkably high number for any team. Even the best recruiters in the country wouldn't feel confident in landing 8 guys on signing day. I'm giving props because that's an amazing haul that late in the game.

I simply don't believe Nutt would have realistically known that he could have landed all those guys and actually had time to tell other dudes to look around.

Not even remotely close to a relevant analogy.

By your reasoning having sex with more people actually lowers your odds for a disease.

I'm not looking at the situation in retrospect. The top 20 in that 2009 OM class is the top 20. Signing more players doesn't change that. But when you have the ability to sign as many players as you want in a future class, signing more would simply increase the chances that your school was ranked higher.

That's all.

The most annoying people on planet earth are those who mistakenly think themselves to be clever. You know the type. They're the guy at work who tells corny jokes over lunch only to chuckle to himself or the guy who makes smartassed comments to the professor in class only to have everybody stare at him with a "what the frick?"

You're definitely that guy, Dumbass.

We're recruiting a 4* DT from WASHINGTON DC!!!

I already told y'all. I'm the bag man for this guy. I'm gonna take him to Swaggtown, USA (my house) before having naked arse women cook us all steak dinners. There will be cash just fricking everywhere. EVERYWHERE. In the fricking medicine cabinet and shite. And then we'll go to the club and they'll only play the music he wants and all of the booze and drugs he could ever ask for would be given to him NO QUESTIONS ASKED. And then I'll make the hard sell by giving him a complimentary ride in Houston Nutt's man-coptor that HottyToddy07 used to have in his avatar.

HE IS OURS. BOOK IT. AND SUCK IT BuLlFrAuDz.

This thread was AWESOME until the whole oversigning bullshite debate came up again. Can we please get back to the "Dear State" qualities this thread so sorely missed after about page five or so?

With all these top 25 classes y'all have signed. How and the hell do y'all only win 4 games and lose to a d2 team.BTW y'all could sign a top 5 class this yr and State is still kickin that arse this fall.

You're a fricking simpleton.

Recruiting success does not IMMEDIATELY translate into on-field success. Just look at Nick Saban's first year at Alabama. But, over time, consistently good recruiting leads to wins on the field. Once again, I use Nick Saban as my example.

You can't just bring in a great class and expect them to skeet skeet all over their opponents that fall. Look at Ole Miss' 2006 class which featured Dexter McCluster, Shay Hodge, Kendrick Lewis, John Jerry, Marshay Green, Kentrell Lockett, Jerrell Powe, etc etc etc. They didn't, in the fall of 2006, win a bunch of games. They didn't, in 2007, as mostly sophomores, win a bunch of games.

But in 2008 and 2009, when they were juniors and seniors, they went 18-8 which, when considering where they came from, is pretty danged solid. Our recruiting classes in 2007 and 2008 (O's last one and a half and Nutt's first half - I give both of them credit/blame for the 2008 class), or the guys who would have been juniors and seniors this past year, sucked major a-hole.

The 2009 class was decent and the 2010 class was good-ish. This 2011 class is looking to be even BETTER than any of these classes mentioned, even the 2006 class. So, yes, I think there is reason to believe that the talent level in Oxford has been steadily on the rise since the arrival of Houston Nutt.

You fricking stupid arse State fans talk out of your own fricking buttholes as if y'all know what's going on, but you don't. There's no precedence or logic to support any of the dumb bullshite half of y'all say.

Have we had better recruiting classes? Have we really?

In terms of who actually made it to/stayed on campus, State outdid Ole Miss for a couple of years there. It frustrates the hell out of me to see guys we wanted, like Fletcher Cox and Charles Mitchell, doing well in Starkville, knowing the guys we recruited to be their counterparts or whatever were too dumb or whatever to stick around.

Even a dumbshit like you could easily see that Ole Miss didn't have much in the way of junior and senior talent this past year.

Yeah we're the stupid fanbase. If I'M not mistaken we beat the hell out of that 2009 cottonbowl team. When our talent was godawful except for Dixon.BTW Saban was 12-0 in his second season. So it wasn't his talent it was his philosophy and by the second yr everyone had bought in and that's why they won.So maybe it's your argument that has no logic but shows you're just a dumbass homer that knows more about interior design than you do about football. You Prolly think y'all make a bowl game this yr. dumbass homer

I was trying to tell you dumbasses this back in August when y'all was saying that Gandy was a legit playmaker and how good your defense was going to be.All the rebs thought y'all would be 5-0 to start the season so on and so forth.Which lets me know there is not a reb fan on this rant that knows anything about football.Little tip for this yr.TEAMS with a QB with no SEC game experience and who lose their top 4 DL and has a weak secondary will not have a very good season.BYU returns most of their players and will prolly win that game.It doesn't matter if y'all play at home b/c your stadium atmosphere sucks arse.Just like the J-VILLE game, everybody in the Grove gettin drunk meanwhile your team is letting a D2 team roll up 50 pts on you AT HOME!!!

Cj's coach said today that he thought each team had a 33% chance still and that it's pretty wide open. TIFWIW.
