Where are you staying? Have you ever been to the Phoenix area? Go eat lunch on the patio at the Four Seasons in Scottsdale if you have time. The view is spectacular.
And if you step on a cactus, soak your foot in water and it will contract. Don't try to pull it out... It's like little fish hooks.

We rented a house on the Tempe/Scottsdale line. We're about a ten minute taxi cab to Mill Ave. from what I hear. I'll keep the four seasons in mind. I've been out there once before. My wife has a lot of family out there, so we have to do lunch with the grandparents/aunts/uncles on Saturday. Go ahead and get that out of the way early. I'll keep the cactus remedy in mind.
