there is a big difference in the matchups for the games played New Years and post vs those played in the middle of December leading up to new year's as far as competition is concerned.

6-6 Tennessee and 6-6 Georgia still got in pretty decent bowls that they had no business being in. South Carolina just absolutely killed themselves against an up and coming Florida State team on the rise again.

those smallconference schools and the big east play in meaningless bowl games against meaningless opponents. so what if they have a good record?

the SEC will still win some quality games this bowl season, even if it's only 3 or 4. and we will walk away with the national title

Go Sec WEst!

Sun Belt and the ACC. Best conferences in the nation brah. Don't hate. We just wish we could be the Atlantic Rant or the Sun Rant.

That's part of the problem. In addition, the Big Ten, Pac Ten, and SEC each have two teams in the BCS, so it pushes every team up an extra slot.

What bowl game isn't meaningless except for the MNC?

Don't hate on other teams and conf's just because your's isn't winning.

Let's be honest guys, the East hasn't held up this year. Every game was winnable, yet the East teams blew it. If UGA doesn't puss out, and if USCe doesn't play like a bunch of tards, along with Tennessee not shooting themselves in the foot would have allowed the SEC to get three wins. If they got it, we'd be crowing like a rooster.

Call a spade a spade.

Gamecocks lose to recruiting powerhouse. Here is there scout ranking for the last 5 years.

YEAR UCF USC
2006 87 33
2007 61 7
2008 66 22
2009 59 13
2010 56 34

UCF didn't even crack the top 50 any year. USC should have blown them out, but got humiliated instead.

I wonder how many stars are the UCF starting lineup: 0-5 star, 1-4 star, 4-3 star, 14-2 star, and 3 not rated.

Stars don't trump coaching and motivation.

you do realize it was Georgia that played UCF and not South Carolina, right?

My bad. I get those crappy SEC east teams all mixed up. The point remains the same.

You'll find out alot more about conferences today and later when 2s start playing 2s and 3s start playing 3s. So far the sec has had the 5/6, 8, and 10 play higher ranked teams in lesser conferences. The sec isn't down this year because its 9th or 10th best team can't beat the 5th or 6th best team from the acc. It'll be down if its third/fourth best team can't beat the third best team from the big 10, its second best team can't beat the second best team from the big ten and it's best team can't beat the best team in the PAC 10.

yes, you are right...but I think that proves the point...even though UCF's athletes didnt rate as highly on recruiting boards, they were the better team in this case.

More proof that there are too many bowl teams, a 6-6 UGA and Tenn teams dont really deserve to be in a bowl...

USC had 400+ yards of offense...yeah the turnovers killed them.
As far as TENN, I give them that game since the officials made an inappropriate call by allowing the ball to be clocked instead of holding it so Tenn could substitute as the rule states. So really the SEC could easily be 2-1 and UGA lost by 4 points to a team that won 10 games.
I see a lot of positives for the east next season - especially since UGA will be very good and Charlie Weis will be the O-Coord at UF with Muschamp. I am now even more concerned about UF than I was with Ubermeyer.
that is the NE Pats version of colege football with unlimited recruits. Who wouldn't want to play there.
