Moreover... the second that Cam-gate went public.. we all unanimously agreed it probably will cost him the trophy... yet, over the weeks of silence about him, people (radio/local news/tv) all started just saying "yeah, he's the clear frontrunner." as if the only thing that the heisman represents is ON field performance.
if that's ALL it represents, then fine. he TOTALLY fricking deserves it. not a single argument there on my side.

Remember... you said "a bunch of traffic tickets" like it didn't mean anything. Not me. I believe it means he feels the rules didn't apply to him. You also tried to make it seem like it doesn't matter that he bought a stolen LAPTOP because it happened a couple years ago. I didn't. I think it shows that he doesn't care about the guy whose laptop it was... it was Cam's after he paid for it.
And why does he feel this way? because all his life people have bent over backward and been accommodating to him because of his athletic ability, or what team he plays for, to keep him eligible.
Some things never change.

RIGHT! EVERY university does this shite. i think it's stupid too... we're all so god damn enamored with the hometown titans that we forget that rules apply to their asses too. they're just humans that can run fast and hit hard... thaaaaaaaaaat's it.
let's stop making them demi-gods.
*edit*
i'm guilty of glorifying people too... even if it's a Tim Tebow... whose record is spotless and who has proven to REALLY do mission work and charity stuff on his own accord... one can't help but kinda elevate them. but i KNOW when i'm doing it. that's the difference between me and some folks in the thread.

The only thing we know Cam did was that a couple of years ago he bought a stolen laptop.
And still lied about the circumstances surrounding it as recently as last month in the SI article.

i want to call bullshite, but i have been defaming Cam's character all thread... but somehow i'm still shocked if this is 100% true.

11-1-2010: Newton says he bought the laptop for $120 from a man selling electronics out of the trunk of his car, though the computer was valued at more than $1,000. "It was really too good to be true," Newton says of the transaction. "It was just a dumb move."

After the athlete was placed under arrest, he was handcuffed and walked to a patrol car. That is when Newton’s phone--which had been seized by cops--began vibrating with a series of text messages from accomplice Cesar Perez, who had retrieved the computer from beneath Newton’s window. Unaware that his buddy was in custody, Perez assured Newton that cops, “did not have shite and if they did, he would be under arrest.” Perez advised that Newton should “keep denying it.”

lol at the mugshots... seems that 200k decision has wiped the frown right off his face.

Police report makes it sound pretty thug...

call me an idiot, but that doesn't contradict his story all that much...

After noting that he had thrown the laptop out of the window, Newton remarked, “Huh! Cuz, they bout to search my room.”
High character guy. And simple mistake, like he said last month.

He has played the poor me, it was a simple mistake when it's clear by the report he knew it or he stole it and was trying to hide it and lie to the police.
Posted on 12/6/10 at 10:36 pm to Alahunter
Also from the police report:
quote:
As cops were about to search his room, Newton (then a backup to Florida QB Tim Tebow) was overheard on a cellphone telling someone, “There was a computer and I took it"

He said in his interview he knew the laptop deal was "too good to be true".
He probably knew that shite was stolen, and from there the report outlines what went down. Mugshots look thuggin.
Has anyone ever actually taken a good mugshot?
