i dont think it matters where he solicited the money, as long as there's proof that it was done. You can't just ask people for money to play college football.

Yes you can.

The NCAA, like anyone paying attention, must think Newton was bought. They'll eventually find the evidence to prove it, most likely its just a matter of time. Especially with the FBI involved.

"NCAA spokesperson Stacey Osburn told The Birmingham News by email that "the solicitation of cash or benefits by a prospective student-athlete or another individual on his or her behalf is not allowed under NCAA rules." "

I think another factor is that the Newtons weren't new to the recruitment process.

He wasn't a freshman, coming to recruitment new. They knew that asking for money was wrong.

Stop it. You know that is ridiculous. Cam wasn't going to a school that wasn't going to pay and that is straight from his father's mouth.

If no school was going to pay, was he just going to stay the frick home?

Major flaw in that story right there.

ESPN said it is NOT against NCAA rules to ask for anything, money included.

Now receiving is a different story, but asking for money doesnt break any NCAA rules.

The NCAA could suspend him based on these allegations alone. Sorry, but his only recourse would be to sue after the fact.

Like an injunction, they could cut him off pending the completion of the investigation if they wanted to.

Nevermind due process in a criminal court. The NCAA is a private entity and they can do whatever they want.
