The rule says "successfull HANDING" not "HANDLING"
You don't hand a ball off by throwing it on the ground. That's a fumble.

That would definitely explain the mixup.

Also the holder's knee was down when he tossed the ball slightly forward.

Yeah, I just checked that out.
LSU deserved to win.
They need to fix the letter of the law.
But by the current law, the play should have been blown dead when the kicker illegally advanced the fumble.

If the catch or recovery is beyond the spot of the fumble, the ball is returned to the spot of the fumble. If the catch or recovery is behind the spot of the fumble, the ball remains at the spot of the catch or recovery. Read the first sentence after exception 2 (bolded)
You are absolutely right -
The exception being it was not a fumble. But thanks again for playing........

How about holding on the D on a field goal.

This is legal.
The holder isn't allowed to get up and move the ball, but he can throw or toss from his knee. My dad was a holder. The holder can run with the ball if his knee is off the ground when he catches it.

Holder is exempt if there is a player in position to make a kick.

Not to mention that it clearly went forwards a few inches.
Yeah, SO clear, that after nearly five minutes, the guys in the replay booth didn't overturn it.

Wasn't a fumble.
NCAA rule book
Look up the definitions of a Loose ball, fumble, backward pass, and a handoff and get back to me.

Can be called if the defensive player was holding an offensive player to prevent him from blocking on a fg, which is probably exactly what happened.
