Though SGA leaders did not follow the rules, Davis said she is confident that if the Senate had been in session when the trip was planned, its members would have voted to pay the expenses.

They're lucky Julio gave up his Senate seat. He'd be wrecking people's shite over this.

typical. Dumbass bitch just thinks everything is okay because "they assumed that the Senate would have approved." Sad thing is, they probably will get away with it.

I'm all about the community service event. We did with tOSU in 2007 except the students that came from Columbus paid their own way since they were already going to the game.

Sorry NOLA, but you are wrong. The SGA is definitely apart of the machine.

- spend money that isn't yours. Check!
- blatantly disregard rules and procedures. Check!
- cover your tracks by calling it a "humanitarian mission" Check!
These folks will make fine politicians one day.

SGA memebers are of course part of The Machine, but trust me - The Machine neither seeks nor requires the SGA's approval, or even it's insight on their agenda(s). You are naive to suggest otherwise, and the OP LSU kid only knows what he has heard from his sister's boyfriend's cousin about the boogeyman Machine, so whatever. You can believe what you want but the truth is that the elected Student Government (as a whole) is not the same as The Machine, they are two very seperate organizations.

My sis was the machines candidate when they got kicked off campus (yeah right) back in 93. I can still remember walking in front of Gorgas library and seeing the sidewalks all chalked up with "The Machine Lives!!!"
Anyway. I don't really see this as much of a problem. The amount they spent was hardly exorbitant. 954 bucks a piece? That's cheap and they are right...the Senate probably would have approved the trip.

Dude, c'mon....

Separate entities perhaps, but the Machine's input/control of the SGA, particularly the top spots, is without question.
