That may be true in terms of reputation, however, Saban was successful prior to his arrival at LSU. His term at MSU was successful - given the circumstances - even though he didn't win any championships.

Absolutely, and I'm not a Saban-hater or a Miles-booster. You just have to look at it objectively. Saban came to LSU in 2000 to a program that was filled with very talented players, but had suffered at the hands of consistent subpar coaching. A program that was #1 in a state that is consistently loaded with high school football talent. A program that had the money and the desire to do what it took to get better. Combine that with Saban's coaching ability and you have the "resurgence" of LSU football, that is still continuing. No, it was not due to Saban, although he was a crucial cog in the machine. It was due to many factors that all came together at the right time and place.

LSU kicked Saban's arse when he coached MSU.
Lsu was good for Saban.
Saban was good for LSU.
He will be an "avaerage" coach at Bama because Bama sucks anyway.
He is winning with Shula's recruits.
