Will finish .500 or below in football, men's basketball and baseball for the first time since 1985-86.

Yet no one is going top be fired.

The poor decision making by the university as a whole when that happened will haunt State for a decade.

I’d imagine Lemonis is done after this season.

State fans?

Hey man your men’s basketball program made the tournament. Not all of us can say that.

They need to start with the AD. He is terrible. The head coaches may actually do well under a new AD. I'm starting to wonder if we are paying their AD to make them suck.

Looks like State has given up in football like Arkansas.

Both need to focus on basketball and baseball.

The harsh reality is that they can't compete in the NIL era. I hate what college sports has become.

I was worried about State in the NIL era, but Lemonis is garbage regardless. I am surprised Purcell has State’s WBB program competitive post Schaefer, but I noticed the whole team left?

I would take Chris Jans at LSU in a heartbeat fwiw.

I don’t mean to be a dick, but State would do well going to the Big 12. Obviously no one is moving an inch with tv contracts.

They aren't broke, they just don't have as much money as the rest of the SEC.

It's why it is important for them to hire above average coaches in all sports to be an overachiever.

Lemonis is garbage. We are already struggling in the NIL era - there are questions whether we need to buy out a baseball coach's contract or buy a couple of offensive linemen.

Purcell is a decent recruiter but no one likes playing for him. We lost our entire roster in the transfer portal, with two going to Ole Miss.

Jans is the best major coach on campus right now. But one and done in the NCAA Tournament may be our ceiling. 3 straight NCAA Tourneys (First Four and two 8/9 seeds) Don't see anything in the program that says we can make a run to the second weekend.

We won the SEC in soccer and the coach bolted for Auburn. Softball is middle of the pack SEC (which is top 20 in the nation). Men's tennis will host and have a shot at the Sweet 16.

Pretty miserable year altogether though.

It's gotten very easy to not gaf.

If Lemonis isn't fired after this season you won't be able to convince me that our administration even cares about being competitive.

I think Lebby will show some improvements but we just never will compete in football in the NIL era.

Basketball did what we all expected them to do I guess.

They are struggling hard with NIL. Large part of their alumni base, the higher earners, do not see the ROI on it. Some of the football numbers I am hearing is baddddd. Not having 1 draft pick shows that. They are hoping the rev share will bring them back to level playing field.

Unfortunately for State the revenue sharing doesn't help them when the competition gets the money as well.

Lemonis is definitely gone. Baseball is gonna have some excitement injected in June with our shiny new coach being announced.

Basketball will continue to be competitive, and hopefully get further in the tourney if Jans sticks around a while.

Football we need to just forget about. We're not ever going to be competitive in the NIL era. Go all in on basketball and baseball, where we could actually compete for a title on occasion. If we go all in on football it's still only 5-6 wins.
