Rose Bowl will kick off an hour earlier in 2026 as part of College Football Playoff kickoff time changes
The second-half sunset has long been a selling point for the Rose Bowl after the game's traditional 2 p.m. PT kickoff
The 2026 Rose Bowl will kick off approximately an hour earlier than it traditionally has.
ESPN and the College Football Playoff announced the three quarterfinal games on New Year’s Day will begin earlier than they did a season ago. The Orange Bowl will kick off at noon ET, the Rose Bowl will begin at 4 p.m. ET and the Sugar Bowl will begin at 8 p.m. ET.

To be frank, I give exactly zero shits about the Rose Bowl. I love the stadium and the setting, but hearing the Big Ten whine about the B1G/Pac12 tie ins for 15 years only to destroy the Pac 12 overnight for sport drained any sympathy I had

Its funny before everybody started griping about everything California... the one thing I didn't like about it is that it got dark at 4:30 PM in the dead of winter.
I imagine a place like Auburn gets dark early in winter like that being on the front edge of a time zone.

Good. The sugar bowl ending at like 1am is just totally absurd.

The people that pinch their nipples at the sunset of the rose bowl each year are so smarmy
We get it . Now cooperate and play ball.

Yup. When I'm up at my place in Henry County it gets dark quick during hunting season.

The fricking Rose Bowl and Big 10 are why we are where we are in the first place. They've been screwing shite up since the damn Bowl Coalition.

Good. The Sugar Bowl start time has been dumb.

Like most things in California it has great lore but once you’re there you realize it’s actually a shithole

shite venue that is (potentially) filled once a year, in a state that doesn't give two shits about college football. They are an afterthought that should never have been given a playoff spot.
