TO BE ON THIS LIST THE COACH MUST HAVE WON AN SEC TITLE AT SOME POINT
-no matter how many times I put this idiot Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas fans don't understand this

1) Skip Bertman (GOAT)
2) Ray Tanner (.700 win percentage probably had most dominant run besides Skip)
3)Tim Corbin (Built a nothing program into premier program and 2 Natty)
4) Kevin O Sullivan (most constant winner possibly on the list)
5) Paul Manieri (gets slept on and won a ton)
6) Tony Vitello (besides skip achieved the most the quickest and could rapidly move up this list)
7) Mike Bianco ( ton of wins, a natty, and SEC title)
8) Ron Polk (father of SEC baseball)
9) Dave Van Horn (needs a natty to move past bianco)

-cool to see how many coaches are still active rn - truly a golden era rn
-Schlossnagle is so close to jumping onto this list and probably will be top 5 by end of career (needs an SEC title for consideration)

alright ready to see people in the comments start crying

So a SEC Coach who has won 10 NC wouldn’t be on this list if he didn’t have a SEC championship?

That’s a dumb list then.

He is slowly, but assuredly, destroying his legacy. And that natty was thanks to a team full of COVID seniors and a hot streak the likes of which we had never seen before and will likely never see again.

how is it a dumb qualifier. The list is greatest coaches in SEC history not college baseball history moron. You cant be a great SEC coach if you haven't won the SEC. People in the comments are normally dumb but holy cow this thread of comments might be the dumbest yet.

Polk should be a lot higher as he was the first HC to make his SEC team a national program. Had some of his teams played in today's college baseball era he would be a lot more of a national icon. Plus, his persona reminds me of Earl Weaver & Earl was always entertaining in addition to being a great coach. And I am a LSU fan.

Schloss had a quote the other day on this when asked about our SEC record..

“Winning the SEC would be nice, but it has no impact on what happens in Omaha, and every single coach I know plays the games thinking about Omaha. We pulled Spencer because something wasn’t right. Winning or losing that SEC game isn’t important if you lose that pitcher for the rest of the season.”

paraphrased..

So yes, this list is stupid with that qualifier

Cliff didn't need a sec championship to be the winningest coach in college baseball history, nor did Augie need a sec championship to replace Cliff.

When Schloss replaces Augie he will have a sec championship but more importantly he be the third Texas coach to become the winningest coach in college baseball history.

Then all those sec coaches OP mentioned all were a part of college baseball history, they're all sucking hind tit to THREE Texas coaches.

Why is this list getting down-voted so much. It’s pretty much spot on.

Skip was the greatest. There is no one that comes close.

Tanner went to back to back to back CWS Finals winning 2 of them. He owned the SEC from when Skip retired until he, himself retired.

Corbin has won 2 Natty’s and built a solid arse program.

Sully’s been to what 3 CWS Finals winning 1 and has been to the CWS more than any other coach since 2010.

Paul won a natty and went to the CWS finals losing to Florida and Sully. Won the SEC a bunch and went to the CWS regularly from 2008 to 2017.

Vitello is doing amazing things. Won a natty. Been to the CWS numerous. Times. Like the OP said, expect him to rise up the list. He most certainly will, but has to achieve it first before he can be placed above the guys in Front of him.

I might put Polk in front of Bianco even though Bianco won a natty.

Same for van horn. Would probably put him in front of Bianco.

But.. other than that, list is solid.

You should be banned for inferring Skip Bertman and Tony Vitello are at all peers.

This is an SEC board discussing things that actually happened in the SEC.

Quit trying so hard to insert past Texas accomplishments as SEC accomplishments. They aren’t. Of votes Texas has a great history jn baseball. But.. none of it. Let’s say it again… none of it happened in the SEC.

Are we talking about Augie?

If so, he won the College World Series 5 times and never coached an SEC team.
