Heard a NIL lawyer on radio yesterday

I’m trying to find it so I can post, but was listening to Sirius XM college radio and this lawyer was on talking about this summers 7/1 changes
He said it’s going to be a dumpster fire and if you think it’s bad now, just wait. It’s just going to be old school where the schools shares revenue and boosters pay behind the scenes.
He also said Jeremiah Smiths team has hired a lawyer to challenge the 3 year rule to go to the NFL and he expects that to go away after he wins his case. Said it’s a slam dunk because the NCAA doesn’t have the balls to challenge
Also said anyone that challenges the sec to sec transfer rule will win.
I feel like every time we try to make the game better we keep loosening the rules.
So imagine all the NIL shite and unlimited transfers, now with players being able to go to the the NFL after 1 year and go from SEC to SEC
What a disaster

If an NIL lawyer is crying about it, then it's probably better for the average fan, if only by a bit.
The SEC rule would not stand, but would it be settled within that year ?
The 3 year NFL rule would never have stood in a superior court case. I'm surpsised it has gone this long. Athletes can go straight from high school to the NBA and MLB

That’s an NFL rule and I don’t think the NFL is going to lay down on that one. Lawyer might have lost all credibility in everything else he said, if he didn’t understand this one simple fact

The last true CFB champion was 2020 Alabama. NIL has tainted the sport since then.

I'd say Michigan last year. Ohio State brazenly admitted how much they paid for their team.

Wrong. Everyone knows the last true and by the rules CFB championship occurred in 1939. Every champion after has a *. It’s common knowledge.

Oklahoma was ahead of the curve in becoming a softball school

Funny way of looking at it. Many folks would say Alabama tainted football plenty over the decades with its own private NIL system. And 2020 couldn't have been a true champion because some schools played half a season, and they all played with miniscule crowds.

Are you so naive that you think ut didn’t offer incentives? Numerous ex players have said every SEC team did.
When the ncaa was investigating Alabama in the DuBose era the ncaa investigator asked a player whose name I can’t remember, but could find on the www, if Alabama offered him incentives. He said no but Tennessee did.

I believe the 3 year rule is because the NFL Players Union requires a person to be 3 years out of HS before they can join the union. Since the NFL is closed shop (all players must be in the union) you have to be 3 years out to be in the NFL.
Maurice Clarett challenged the rule in the early 2000's and lost. If Smith challenges he will lose too.

It’s collectively bargained with the players union. Maurice Clarett and Mike Williams challenged it over 20 years ago and lost. The NFL isn’t losing in court over this.

No HS football player is making an NFL roster without going to college

IANAL and wish I understood more about possible solutions to NIL.
I think everyone agrees that unlimited free agency is a disaster. What I don't understand is how it's a problem specific to college, when pro leagues are fine. Even soccer seems to have their act together with transfer fees & they have dozens of leagues in dozens of countries.

There have been several who never played in college.

I find it hard to believe an NIL attorney doesn't know that is an NFL, not NCAA, rule. He must be a poser.

…because they ran track or played a different sport in college?

Saints fans will recall Michael Lewis "The Beerman". He didn't play college ball, played in local flag football leagues, than semi-pro and other tackle leagues, ended up as a successful return man for the Saints. But he was a 31-year-old rookie in the NFL.
