I didn’t see a lot of action around the spring portal, but figured it may be worth it’s own thread.

It seems we have missed on some early targets (the kid from stanford) and demon clowney (headed to south carolina) at edge so that list is getting slim.

On3 is reporting Branson Robinson for us is hitting the portal

Branson Robinson

Hate that he wasn’t ever able to hit his full potential due to all the injuries and wish him nothing but the best. He can’t go to an SEC school, but I don’t see him landing at a P5 given the number of question marks he brings.

NCAA raised the limits on scholarship players to 105. SEC is keeping theirs at 85, but I certainly expect BR will land at a p5

Branson outscored TCU’s entire team in the CFP final.

I really had high hopes for him and it’s shame with the injuries, but wish him the best.

If he can stay healthy, he'll be a great addition somewhere.

He needs to go somewhere that the practices are less brutal and more NFL-like.

RB Damien Taylor, former 3* recruit, from Troy, is in the portal. He ran for 1000 yards last season and earned All-Sunbelt honors.

5-11 220 per On3. He only has one year of eligibility left. I'd love to get him, but for his final year I don't think he wants to be buried on a depth chart. He'd probably be better off staying at Troy. The NFL drafts Sunbelt guys all the time, he can be a big fish in a small pond there.

We are likely not after a starter. We are after someone who is ok sharing snaps behind 3 guys with extra years of eligibility.

It’s apparently between us and Ohio state for Beau Atkinson. 6’6” 265 edge from UNC who had 7 sacks last year. Would be good to have a plug and play guy as I think Gabe Harris is more of an OLB jack and so we don’t have an obvious direct replacement for Mykel at 5 technique.

Not so sure he’s plug and play.

It'd be worth it just to take something from bill belichick, on principle.

He is visiting. So is OLB Elo Modozie from Army who has 2 years eligibility some reports say is more likely due to mutual interest.

Anyone who is considered "elite" by way of UNC is automatically suspect on their abilities to me.

ACC competition vs. SEC is different but I doubt he will be a world beater if he chooses to play for us or OSU.

This is more of we need butts in seats at Edge

Our running back situation has fallen way off. We whiffed on every big running back recruit this past recruiting cycle. Frazier worked out, but he was a backup plan after we missed in that class too.

Prepare to spend much of this season reading about how Rod Robinson "is trying to play himself into shape," just like last year.

Branson Robinson is a DGD. The injury he had was the worst leg injury that a running back can have and it can end careers. The "insiders" and donors who get to watch practice and scrimmages who were hyping him us before last season sort of set him up for failure.

I am at a loss on why we let Paul leave.

No idea why he got to play so early and as the #2 to start last season.

He limped every run he had until he re-injured his MCL

What were these coaches thinking?

There are so many under the radar running backs from the state of Georgia who go on to kick arse at other schools. They eventually get homesick and want to play for championships. I thought this would be one of our big advantages in the portal. Hasn't worked out yet.
