And says he is starting his pro career.
Did he already get a draft eval back?
Is this real?
I agree with the decision but yipes.

He’s a first round pick and likely right in the edge of the lottery. He’s making the correct choice.

So that means Pettiford is probably gone as well. He was a much better guard than Philon was.

Pettiford’s measurables are what kills him on draft boards, unfortunately. Some GM would take a risk on him in the second, I would think, and with a couple of more years of seasoning he could climb, but his height will always be a knock.

Philon and Petiford are both late 1st/ early 2nd round picks. Both are really good but likely will play a few years in the G league before moving up to the big league- like JD Davison just did.

He's been projected as first-round pick pretty much all year, this was expected.

He likely has a first round guarantee. Only reason he would enter and choose not to maintain his eligibility like Pettiford is.
Philon has everything NBA GMs love with the exception of his shooting. That 31% from range will have to come up.

This is the truth. It does not mean he can’t play in the NBA - just that he won’t ever go lottery.

I wish him the best. Enjoyed watching him play. Hopefully he improves from 3. If he does, he can make it in the NBA I think.

He was just up and down all yr. He could use another yr. But get the Bag young man.

Same with Broome.
I think he's come back so many times because he doesn't want to be a bench center, but that's really not a bad gig at all if you can get it.

He was injured.
After Wrightsell got OFTY, which fricked up the whole rotation, and ended up thrusting Aden Holloway into an unplanned starting role since Youngblood wasn't 100% yet (remember Mallette came back briefly because we were so thin).
Sucks we didn't get to see him full-tilt, because earlier in the year the initial lineups were rolling.

Is he related to the Arkansas defensive lineman named Darius Philon that was from Mobile?
Edit - A quick google search later...They are first cousins.
