It's hard to believe that Richt had Stafford, AJ Greene, and Knowshon Moreno on one team and still couldn't win shite.

Did not put enough emphasis on Oline for some odd reason. Then the trophies gather dust speech.

That was most of Richt's career but to somehwat stick up for him regarding 2008 specifically, Trinton Sturdivant was lost for the season 4 weeks before the opener. Think about in 2018 if Andrew Thomas went down in August how much it would've boned us. Not nearly as bad as 2008 obviously becuase of kirby's recruiting/depth, but I mean not many teams could lose a stud All American caliber left tackle during fall camp and not skip a beat.

Besides that though, we just didn't have the defense we needed. and weren't as stellar along the LOS as you need to be to win big. Richt could always recruit skill guys well and that team sure had 'em but that's just one part of the puzzle.

One last thing I'll say abotu 2008 is that I don't quite think it's far that pepole constantly harp on how much that team """underachieved""". Underachieved according to who? Just because a preseason mag put us #1 that means we were supposed to end up there? Bama was hitting its stride under saban and was top to bottom simply better than us. Florida was mega talented with several elite recruiting classes under meyer. Hindsight is 20/20 of course but those teams were exponentioally better than us so I don' know how us losing those games was underachieving. Tech is a differnet story...no reason we should've lost to them so I'll give ya that.

But even if you reverse the outcome of the tech game, our results in 2008 would be a 2-loss SEC season, no SECCG appearance, and a top 10 national end of sesason ranking. As opposed to the reality that actually did happen which was...a 2-loss SEC season, no SECCG, and a top 10 national ranking.

So it's Nick Saban and Urban Meyer's fault.
