I am just about to internet order groceries (including chicken breasts) from a local store, and shall now go on record thanking aggie (and land grant universities / farmers and ranchers everywhere) for my food.

Photos below of the Texas a&m 2025 National Championship Poultry Judging Team, which have won two national championships in a row…

Final photo is of Texas Longhorns’ admittedly pretty useless frat boy fake urban Cowboys Smoky the Cannon Drill Team who will never raise a single chicken…

And here’s a thread link from today’s TexAgs honoring said 2025 Texas a&m National Champion Poultry Judging Team:

TexAgs honors a&m’s dominant poultry judging team

Yeah, well, Mama taught me long ago that good sportsmanship requires giving credit where credit is due...

Agreed!

Growing up in a small South Texas town, I hunted and fished. I wore various ball caps, which was fine and accepted.

Our strict unwritten dress code there, and back then, was that to wear an actual cowboy hat, you had to actually have a family ranch and actually work cattle, or do rodeo, or both. To not follow this dress code would be to subject yourself to endless ridicule...

So it wasn't a dress code.

and you don't wear a flashy belt buckle, unless you won it....

imagine my surprise going to country bars in Houston, and worse, the Houston Livestock show and rodeo... where everyone thinks they are a cowboy...
drug store cowboys at best... definitely ain't never been on or near a bull... with their pristine pearl snap, cinch jeans, and BRAND new exotic leather boots....

This is what we get for adding Texas teams. I never knew Texas was so gay.

Urban take.

I've raised chickens and sold to Pilgrim's. I have cows. I can even throw a rope if needed.

I have fresh air and peace in my heart.

We don't all get sucked into concrete jungles.

True Story: I was at a Saturday night dance while in high school with a C&W band at our local small town KC hall... A pretty big dude in a cowboy hat with what looked like a big road kill peacock hatband in front unexpectedly strode in. He stuck out like a sore thumb, because our local guys were wearing either black felt or light straw cowboy hats with very conservative, narrow hat bands...

That stranger turned out to be Dan Pastorini (Houston Oilers) QB, out on the prowl. I remember that it was not long before Dan left the dance with a nice looking woman...

That sounds great... I am in the process of retiring, with 10 acres up in our NC mountains, a couple of chain saws and a wood splitter, looking forward to a simpler life soon...

My Texas hometown is about 100 miles from Houston, and I've been through Houston many times over the years as it has grown bigger, and bigger, and bigger...

Congrats to you for leaving all that traffic, hot concrete, and 80% humidity behind...

I hope that works out great for you as well. We only live once. No reason not to spend as much as you can in God's country.

Seriously, more kids go to Aggie to "dress cowboy" than to Texas.

If someone is walking around Texas campus with boots and jeans, they probably have a life and/or story to go with it.

Aggie is just a big masquerade for suburban kids.

No rodeo team when I was a UT student, but we did likely have a Communist club (haha), that I did not attend...

All kidding aside, I'm glad aggie is keeping this tradition alive. Although I did not do rodeo myself, I had friends who did, and we had a rodeo every year in the Fall connected with our county fair. My little sister was selected county Fair Queen one year...

Small town Texas rodeos are the best... and just looking at the young people on your aggie rodeo team, I can definitely see that they are the real deal...

you never get used to that humidity. Nothing worse than the A/C dying in August in Houston.
