Letting OSU out recruit you for Bradford is a bad look on Jake Olsen

We still very well may flip this kid but by all accounts OSU did a better job recruiting the kid and selling him on development. As great as we’ve done in the 26 class so far getting out recruited for the best safety in the country that’s about 10 minutes from your campus is a huge indictment on Olsen.

The LSU brand alone and staying alone isn’t enough for some Lousiana kids it seemed the staff thought signing his brother and staying home would be enough to keep this kid home his early commitment to OSU showed that’s not enough. Again theirs still time to flip this but it simply doesn’t sit right with me that the staff let this kid slip right through their fingers.

So, you think by ALL accounts, we did an inferior job? What/who do you define as ALL? This is a money play, end-of-discussion. And I have no problem if we "take a pass" on him and go after another high-level safety. Oh, BTW, we already have one of the best in the country in Aiden Hall.

And as I mentioned in another post, I used to live near OSU. So let him go there and freeze his arse off. Give zero fricks...

He’s just using OU as leverage to up the ante on NIL. They all do that now.

First of all, let's not pretend that Ohio State is some scrub Mississippi school. OSU is one of the most storied programs in the history of college football.

Second of all, if you think this is all on Olsen, you're dreaming. Kelly, Sloan, Frank, Corey & Olsen all have a hand in this recruitment.

Third, it's not like the staff hasn't been recruiting him for a long, long time. Shea was talking yesterday about how LSU has been on him for over two years now. Sometimes, kids just want to go elsewhere and oftentimes, we are the beneficiary of that. We get OOS kids all the time. It happens. Doesn't mean we can't still get Blaine or will stop recruiting him, but melting down with 10 months to go is super knee jerk.

Fourth, does the staff get any credit for the top 5 Louisiana safety they already have committed or are we just going to gloss over that fact?

If this were 2018, sure. But this is so obvious a play to make us bid more. I don’t blame the kid at all. Commits to LSU next year when we drop the bag.

Because Ohio state didn’t just win the natty right?

That was my immediate thought as well. Insinuating that OSU is an inferior program is comical. They are an elite football factory up there as well, not like we're talking about Texas Tech or someone like that.

A play for money and nothing more. he knows what LSU has coming back and what they've signed for 2025. He knows he has a shot at winning a natty with his brother. It ain't over till it's over. Plenty of time to flip him but they have values assigned to players and they will not overpay.

Are you sure that’s “by all accounts” and not something you read that came from the OU side?

OSU, in terms of being a consistently elite program, team and recruiting machine, is what we strive to be. We always discuss the LSU brand in these things. News for you, there is no greater college football brand than Ohio St University. Those 3 titles we got in the midst of the mediocrity, substantially less than elite at the very least, has blinded some of us to reality. Losing any battle to OSU is nothing to be ashamed of even if you can't stand them.

My brother is currently working just North of Columbus. It was 25 degrees there last week. Screw that!

No. The staff is supposed to get the best players in Louisiana. Period.

Missing on the next all America safety when that position is one of the weakest on the team is unacceptable.
