We got fiber all the way out here, no lie.
But the IT folks are pushing some updates and it will temporarily disable the switches. $000 foot of water 100 miles out and we have a fiber connection out here.
Shell ran that for one of their further out but was smart enough to run a huge bundle and sell the service to other platforms out here.

People would be amazed at how much fiber is run in the ocean and GOM/GOA.
I used to work at Shell (IT) upstream, good on them understanding if you're going to fun fiber - RUN FIBER - not just the strands you think you need.
