Rick Barnes, Mark Richt, and Dave Van Horn are the toughest coaches to have. They are way too good to fire but they don't have the champion DNA to get over the hump. Its eternal purgatory to deal with these guys but at the end of the day it tends to be better to have them then not. Not every coach that follows is a Kirby Smart and its scary out there in the coaching search world

It could be worse. You could have McMahon. Be happy with what you got.

Dave Van Horn seems like he overachieves. Mark Richt had championship rosters that did nothing.

He's always ranked in the preseason for a reason. He builds good rosters, it's not like every year is a surprise, feel-good Cinderella run no one saw coming.

You have no fricking clue what purgatory is if you think it’s back to back elite 8s for the first time in school history.

DVH isn’t in a group with those others listed. He has played for a title and has gotten to the final series/game.

Sports fans are dramatic. I’ve been hearing about how miserable it is to be a razorback fan because of the foul ball and the loss in the sweet 16.

Doesn’t make sense to me. Yes they hurt but a huge percentage of teams would be thrilled to just be in the hunt. What’s miserable to me is not being relevant in football for the last 13 years. Heartbreaks and coming just short are part of what makes being a fan fun, in a weird way.

Some programs aren't meant to win anything for various reasons.

Be careful what you wish for.

Nope, he just does a poor job of managing pitching late in the year and pitching wins championships.

Today is an example of why Rick Barnes did not finish his career as the coach of the Texas Longhorns. His teams here had an incredible knack for providing an inexplicable loss at the worst time. Hopes built up, hopes crushed.

He did a fantastic job with the 2004 CWS team. I don't think a single player got drafted off that team.

Rick has taken us to back to back E8s, 2 of only 3 in school history. Lost while having a player drop 37 and lost while his team couldn't buy a bucket.

Playing to your seed isn't choking, and there's no coaching that can fix not making wide open shots.

Barnes isn't the reaper in the tourney, but as a long suffering Vols fan I appreciate what he's done for the program.
