If we can go on to win the championship. I will look back at the moment he called johni and cbm out publicly as the start of the championship run.

The idea of Steven taking over for BP is slowly growing on me

(although in an ideal world I'd still want Buzz somehow)

It needed to be said but broome followed it up with arguably his worst game of the year so hopefully with more time to sink in it will be more effective on him

This team found a way to win with their best player not having a dominant game.

Agreed and that's obviously encouraging, we can prob beat Michigan without him playing great as well but if we're going to see this through to the end he's got to play like he's capable of

I wonder if he would leave for another school if he was offered a HC gig?

Creighton game? Creighton's HC said post-game that their entire gameplan hinged on shutting down Broome and Kelly, which they did. Broome still got key boards, while tying up their all-world defender to cover him. The rest of the team made Creighton pay for that. Kelly had 5 points and was shut out on boards and assists. Broome had 12 boards to their 7' er's 7 boards.

He would, but he isn't going to leave to just go anywhere.

I have heard the tentative plan is for him to go somewhere and get his feet wet as a HC and come back once Bruce retires.

I’d want Golden, but that seems unlikely. I, too, am warming up to Steven.

Golden moving to Auburn from Florida?

I would be shocked.

Golden to UNC, Kansas, Kentucky, maybe down the road.

I've been curious if Tennessee would try to snag Steven. Say he goes and gets experience at another school. Barnes retires. Do they get Pearl? I bet they would try

I would also be surprised, although happily so. I don’t think he’ll leave Florida for any other school. Auburn will pay as much as any of those schools you named and currently have a better basketball program. Unfortunately, the same can be said of Florida.

Of course, we have the fact that he’s been here before. But I think he’s a Gator for life at this point.

Steven Pearl is not very fond of UT. Has said several times he was upset with how they handled everything with BP.

Meanwhile, UT has had sustained basketball success for 2 decades now. I don't see them even wanting to hire someone without 5+ years of success.. I think Barnes retires in the next 2-3 years.

This is a great situation for Steven, assuming he has the patience to wait it out. I get the desire to prove yourself and he may think he is ready (and may be), but being able to step into a position like this is rare in the coaching world. The system is already set up for what you want to do (obviously he will problably have some changes, but nothing major), everything around the program is already familiar with you from admin to recruiting pipelines, and it is a program that is one of the top ones in the country now.

Steven was incredibly interested in the Murray State job and I believe he would have taken it had we not beaten Creighton.

I was told last year that they want Steven to get his feet wet as a HC if he wants the chance to take over at AU.
