Which do you choose?

I’m sure there will homer picks, but for fans not of these teams, team(s) do you pick as the best?

Each team was the best of their time. No way to decide which was best overall. Too many variables.

Florida won 2 in a row. UK won 2 of 3 with an OT loss in between, and a coaching change. For each time, they were clearly the best during those stretches.

In that narrow range I'd go Kentucky, Florida, Arkansas. All were absolutely terrifying during those three year periods.

Historically its Kentucky by a country mile, followed by Arkansas, and with Florida bringing up the rear. Not an insult to Florida, but historically speaking they've been mostly meh other than that run.

Since we are just comparing these specific years:

Florida - two in a row + elite football during those years

Someone told me that the UF basketball team was even more popular than Urban, Tebow & and the football team back then…

They also preceded Tebow's run, winning their second championship in 2007 and Tebow didn't start as QB until that fall.

The Richardson vs Pitino games were great. They even played on Super Bowl Sunday before the game. My favorite era of sec basketball.

Also worth noting Kentucky 96-98 benefitted from still being in an era where guys stayed in college multiple years.

It was always pretty impressive that Donovan was able to get those Florida guys to commit to coming back to give it another run. Some of those guys could've easily left a year early and made good NBA money.

The Arkansas and Kentucky teams actually played one another during that period so there was a decent measurement there. No way to know how that florida span would have stacked up.

It would have been ridiculous if all 3 were at their prime at the same time.

Historically Arkansas has 1 more final four and elite 8

UF has 1 more National title

I know which of those I’d rather have

No DV from me. The back to back titles mean more. We had our chance going back to back and lost.

I will say no other team had the rules changed from one seaon to the next to prevent them from winning. See handxheck rule change 1994

Loved Richardson's teams.

UK - they destroyed teams in the '96 tournament, gives them the edge over...
UF - 2 championships, gives them the edge over...

Was a tad too young to remember Arky or Kentucky's 90s teams.

But UF's back to back frontcourt I'd take over pretty much anything.

Arkansas also has more overall NCAA tournament appearances than Florida.

Why the downvotes? It’s a fact.
