Had an interview with Hoke. It’s on YouTube.

He is feeling much better. Had ulcerative colitis and had his colon removed. He’s up to 160 pounds and plans to go through spring and is feeling much better and is back to kicking.

Wish this young man to continue to recover and improve. Having a normal life is much more important than football but his desire is to kick for AU and then the NFL.

FWI, he was listed at 154lbs on the 2023 roster so he's up a few pounds. That tells me he's healthy. Glad to see him getting back into the swing of things. I hope he ends up back on course to be the Auburn kicking legend he was headed for.

He lost 55 lbs in 2 month last year. He had even put weight on before the UK game he kicked in last season and he looked dead to me. He’s not a big guy anyway

When I saw him last season, the 154 was with pads and holding some 10 pound plates in his hands.

He looked emaciated.

I would have guessed 125 or so.

Yes he got down below 125 last season he had actually put on some weight coming into the UK game but he looked sickly for sure.

colon removed

Did want to bring some more context to this. They were able to use some of his small intestines to make a pseudo colon so I assume he’s not walking around with an external bag.

On3 said he got as low as 110 which is crazy. Live long enough and you’re bound to have something miserable happen to you but his ordeal has to be about as bad as it gets

Just awful. I got really bad pneumonia & bronchitis when I was 13 or 14 and lost 30 lbs in about a month and a half and felt like I was dying and had absolutely no strength to do anything. He basically doubled that, I can't even imagine.

Plus a pretty grueling surgery.

Silver lining to all this is he’s on the team, so not only is Auburn likely footing the bill, they’re providing world class rehab and nutrition. Hate he’s going through all this but he’s in the best scenario possible for a full recovery

I would think a colostomy would end his football career. Even as a kicker he could get hit and damage the stomach, which could potentially be life threatening.

even if he never kicks competitively for AU again, heres hoping his mere presence on the practice field after nearly dying will inspire Magoo that there are worse things to deal with than a case of the yips
