College basketball needs to get a handle on end of game stoppages

It’s out of control. Nearly every dead ball under 2 minutes they have to check something and give teams free timeouts.
The big one is the clock. They have to check that and add like 1 or 2 seconds.
It kills momentum and brings the game to a crawl and gives teams unlimited timeouts.

There’s been 4 in the last 20 seconds of game time in UK/Tenn

Yeah and all these intentional fouls to try and send the other team to the free throw line so the fouling team can get the ball back. Any other time an intentional foul is called just that. Hell, we know they are intentional so stop the madness already. If you are down 10 with a minute left it's just over. Forget about it.

Way too many timeouts combined with four tv timeouts and reviews and intentional fouls, etc etc. Two actual timeouts per half (aside from TV) is plenty.

Refs call games in favor of the team that is trailing, in order to have close games at the end. So the first 35 minutes are basically skippable. Then the last 5 minutes is a timeout/commercial/foul fest. Horrible.

Basketball is unwatchable because of this.

Another reason that they need to go to the automatic double bonus.

While we are at it:
1. Fouls in the backcourt should be two shots and possession of the ball to start play.
Not fair for a team to have to shoot two from the foul line to get 2 points and the other team gets a chance to shoot one shot for 3.
2. If a head coach throws his water bottle on the floor and risks player safety, 4 shots and the ball is awarded to the other team.

Other team can foul too, so they don’t get a chance at a 3…

The last 2 minutes of a basketball game is unwatchable. Between the timeout and fouls it takes forever. They were already calling a foul every 7 seconds in the OU/A&M. I thought that was never going to end.

I'd rather a review take place to make sure they get it right. OTOH, the idiocy of some of these reviews is mind-boggling.
Where is a line drawn?

When the games are down to the wire and it turns into it. I just turn them off. The reviews take the excitement out of it and its nearly impossible for a trailing team to get momentum going and win.
I just skip the last 2 minutes that are a commercial fest and check the score later.

On fouls, I would give the team fouled the option of whether or not they want to shoot free throws or keep the ball. Ridiculous that you play 38 minutes then it all hinges on making free throws, play the game!
It's like soccer they play for 90+ minutes only to have free kicks decide everything. Just golden ball it.

Most definitely out of control!
If you are not an avid college basketball viewer of televised games, this constant game stoppage is annoying as frick, especially the clock checks.
After 2 or 3 stoppages in a row, I'm going to watch somethihng else unless it's a big game and my team is playing.

In this CYA world we live in, refs are obviously going to use replay as a tool to cover their asses.

Really like the "Elam Ending" that TBT uses:
At the under 4 timeout, the clock gets turned off. 8 points* are added to the leading team's score and the first to reach that point total wins.
*Points added may vary by league.

I would like to see any foul in the last two minutes of play ruled to be intentional. The team fouled is automatically awarded two points and gets the ball out at mid-court. That would stop this nonsense.

The last couple of minutes in that state game was like 30 min.
