Too early top 25

1. Texas - people are expecting Arch Manning to be the best QB in college football, a big ask;

6. Georgia - seems about right, new QB though;

8. South Carolina - offseason media darlings, we'll see if SC can take next step;

9. Florida - I like Lagway, but this would be a huge improvement;

11. Auburn - head scratcher, seems dumb to rate this high;

13. Tennessee - about right;

14. Alabama - when was last time Bama was this low preseason?;

15. LSU - o-line is the question, but reinforcements on the way;

18. Oklahoma - Venables better have them rebound or he's gone;

19. A&M - fair ranking;

Not making the list: Ole Miss, Missouri, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, Miss State, Arkansas.

Yes, I'm sure this is how it will go as I am sure Ole Miss and Mizzou will not have a top 25 year.

Brett McMurphy has bammer ranked 23 in his “too early Top 25.”

Rage bait.

Not sure how to justify that, given what Bama returns. 14th isn’t outrageous, given the way we finished the season and our unknown at QB.

I posted the same thread 11 minutes ago. But SC/Auburn are both too high. South Carolina should be in the 12-15 range.

Illinois, Florida and Auburn all seem quite a bit optimistic

I guess they just want Illinois to be the next Indiana. Their schedule is easy assuming Indiana takes a nose dive themselves and they get past Duke early in the season.

No offense to Oklahoma, but why are they ranked at all? That offense is 1 gigantic question mark unless Mateer turns into Cam Ward part 2 from Wazzu.

For the first time in a decade plus Alabama will be very clearly underrated by humans compared to computer metrics in preseason polls. Will be up to a large returning core of upperclassmen whether they use that this offseason to get an extra 5-10% out of themselves or not.

If I was forced to put together one of these I'd probably have them around #10-12, mainly due to the QB question. Upside is very high if the QB position gets above average or better play. Downside, given the schedule, is 4-5 losses if QB play is erratic or bad.

I have checked some sites and I am shocked to see way too many SEC that will be playing each other. Some of the teams will have at least 3 losses. Has anyone seen the schedule for South Carolina, Alabama, LSU, Texas A&M, Auburn, OU and Florida. All of those teams cannot be ranked by the end of the season with 3 or more losses. Then there is Tennessee and Georgia. Someone has to lose. This is a joke! Mizzou has one of the better chances to win 10 games. I just don't see this going to be happening.

I'm no Bama fan, but ranking them 23rd is just dumb. I would probably have Alabama around 10th.

Having Miss America as a part of your pregame and halftime shows is worth five spots.

I’m optimistic but we are returning 20 of 22 starters. 9 of 11 on defense. The SEC will be tough. We also open with Florida State, but I think we’ll be better than expected

South Carolina & Florida over Tennessee seems a bit rich. What's the argument there??

I gained a lot of respect for Heupel this year after he proved 2022 was no fluke, and Nico will be in his 3rd year.

Mizzou not being ranked pre season is due to losing Burden and Cook. No one knows how the QB position will pan out. If the transfer is good, lookout though.

You can say the same for other teams as well. I like what Drinkwitz has done so far. Looks really good and we have replaced both the quarterback and the wide receiver. I think both can be much better due to Cook's limited arm strength. Also there is better addition on both the offense and defense. We will be right there with the big boys. No way we lose more than 2 regular season games.
