We’re starting to see all of Sarks down falls as a HC. You have to play recruiting and the portal in modern college football. Maybe there’s a reason he got fired from USC and Washington hint hint.

I mean ideally you really don't need the portal too much if you're happy with your own recruits. The portal is great for plugging holes but teams that recruit well should be playing the players they developed instead of having to bring in a bunch of transfers. Unless a portal guy is an obvious upgrade over someone already on your roster, there's no sense in bringing in a bunch of transfers for the sake of boosting your portal class ranking.

If Texas hasn’t taken a guy from your team yet, it’s bc they are a JAG and not better than what they already have on the roster

Stephen, you are eaten up with Sark, this is at least your 20th thread about him in the last month. Is it because he was able to overcome alcoholism and become successful? Just because you have multiple DUI's and read at a 4th grade level doesn't mean you can't make something of your life, don't give up retard.

Texas has never really had success snagging the highly ranked portal guys. The ones we have been able to land usually had a connection to the staff or the state of Texas. I don’t know if it’s because we’re cheap or if it’s by design. I think Texas spends more money in the highschool ranks and supplements with portal evaluations they think can fill specific roles. The kid we just got out of North Carolina is a former 5* DT whose floor is a big space eater, but his ceiling is a potential NFL body in the interior. His production just isn’t there currently for the Auburns or Oregons of the world to risk swooping in with a massive offer. Texas has been eating good with those type of portal role players. We also have gotten lucky with local guys balling OOS wanting to return home like AD Mitchell and Andrew Mukuba. I don’t think we land guys like that outright.

The Aggies said the same with the greatest recruiting class in history that they spent $50 million on. The next season ended 8-4. YOU MUST PLAY THE PORTAL to compete. 1/3-1/2 of every recruiting class is gone after 2-3 years. more and more players are transferring as we’ve seen so you cannot rely solely on recruiting. You will learn one day.

Not just recruit, Texas still has #1 overall class (recruit+transfer)

Texas was in playoff and not knowing how many players were going to NFL or transfer.
This year’s transfer class is underwhelming (teams are spending NIL to keep their own players, no big time program coach change). Other than DT, not many transferring players are better than what they already have.

How many teams that went heavy in the portal watched the Longhorns be the only returning playoff team and go 3 games deep into the playoffs this year? Please school us more, it's quite amusing.
