Does the yell leader thing really not embarrass yall? I know we all have traditions and things that don't resonate like they did 50 or so years ago but the guys that wear overalls and tell kindergarten level dad jokes when they pause and raise their knee is like watching your kid act a fool in public. I genuinely think there is no way anyone besides maybe the guys doing it think its cool, good or inspiring for anyone on the actual teams. Why haven't yall shut that shite down.

You people worry about wierd stuff. I happen to like the Aggies traditions. I just want to beat them.

I wouldn't say I'm worried about it. They can keep doing it if they want to. I was just curious what their fans think about it. If we made it a tradition to always have a slap fight on the sidelines before a game i would totally understand you questioning why the hell we were doing that.

I’m confused - you don’t think they’re cool?

Most people simply just enjoy the unique and quirky traditions.
This is really just message board fodder.

What bothers me is how the tradition has been bastardized to what it is today.
It was always meant to be humorous, but the humor lies in how it started. A&M sucked and upperclassmen made the younger guys get down there to entertain their dates. I kinda like that.
All the exaggerated leg lifts are stupid as hell. The lengthy bad jokes are just poking fun at our opponent and have to remain PG so they’re corny. Plenty of times where they blow up in their face when we lose the next day.
I don’t think I’ve gone to midnight yell since I graduated over 20 years ago. It’s mostly for students and visitors.

What’s weird is how much you follow what our traditions are.

Well I don't follow them, they're a viral sensation because of how bad it is on social media and perhaps the things I watch put them in my algorithm. If Im unaware of any other weird shite yall do I just don't know about it because it hasn't found me. If someone was driving me to that cringefest I'd jump out of the moving car.

Personally I don’t care for them. Never have.
I love most of the Aggie traditions like muster, bonfire, dunking your ring and elephant walk.
The reality is we have a national championship cheer leading squad. And we have decent dancers at the basketball games. We need to better utilize them.
I hope to god whoever is in charge of the yell leader program is aware of the perception and we somehow evolve the program. Right now it’s out of date and out of touch and cringe worthy.
Do me a favor and research the other Aggie traditions. Muster is something to experience in your life.
