Yeah, there was some sloppiness, but there was plenty of tension and a lot of highlight reel plays.

That goal line stand resulting in a clinching defensive touchdown by Ohio State will be a memorable one both for that defense and for the play calling. That whole series of downs will be talked about for a long time.

And Texas is to be congratulated for making a game out of this when a lot of people thought they could be blown out. Their defense came to play, and they took Ohio State's star receiver out of the game. He had 1 catch for 3 yards. That's impressive defense. And one of the times they tried to throw to him resulted in a critical interception that changed the momentum in the game.

And speaking of momentum, how about that brilliant screen pass for a 75-yard touchdown by Ohio State right before halftime? That's why you don't just run out the clock. At least try to get the ball in a playmaker's hands in space and see what happens.

Anyway, I was thoroughly entertained from beginning to end. It was a memorable game.

Sir, there is no room for normal objective posts this morning. Only posts saying Tx let the SEC down and embarrassed the conference and only made the game because of the easy schedule.

Two things can be true at once.

Both semifinal games were filled with drama and close tight knit games

Don’t take this as blaming the refs, this is just an observation… but if the other conferences don’t call holding why does the SEC. The Big12 never called holding when we were in it, and having B1G and ACC refs in the playoff showed me that they also don’t. Why teach our players to properly block in the SEC when you can get away with holds in every other conference.

This is just something I noticed throughout the playoffs.

Yeah, I saw a lot of outside the framework pass blocking going on during the game that wasn't called. On both sides.

There were two fumbles that series.

The first was Sarkisian not subbing in the correct personnel (i.e. Arch Manning and a big blockikng back) and running wide on 2nd down (WTH was he thinking?).

It was all on Ewers to get the tying TD and alone he was no match for the Ohio State D.

You're right, holding calls in the playoffs were rare, but I didn't scream about it too much because it was pretty even for both sides. That said there were a few times our Edge players were clotheslined and otherwise would have put the opposing QB on the turf, strip the ball etc. That was kinda frustrating, especially against Zona State

There was nothing brilliant about that, it was a basic bitch play call that's low risk and hoping to pick up 10-15 yards. The dumbshit defense called by the Texas DC, LOL @ safety blitz and playing tampa 2 in that spot, is the only reason it became an explosive as nobody was guarding the perimeter

One of the best games of the playoffs, for sure.

The series on the goal line was for the game but lost in all the discussion, probably because it happened so suddenly just before halftime was Ohio State.s 75-yard completion for a TD. I bet even the buckeye coaching staff were shocked they pulled that rabbit out of the hat. Texas should fire the DC based on that one play.

It was a great game with two teams loaded with NFL talent. Watching it showed why we all love the game.

I’d also bring up Will Howard retreating from the blitz and converting the third and long. In own territory, Texas with all the momentum. A massive conversion and incredible play.

Yeah, that was a key play, along with the 4th and 3 conversion by Howard on the QB power run up the gut, leading to their 3rd TD.

And Ewers managing to get the ball out to his RB while being sacked to keep a drive going that led to Texas' 2nd TD.

For a fan with no dog in the fight it was pure entertainment.

No field goals and it ended in regulation.

Agreed. College OT rules need to go NFL style. They're not real football. Like shootouts in hockey. Not real hockey.
