Idk for sure obviously but I expect bill belliceck to be underwhelming at unc. While urban meyer and nick saban were bust in the NFL. What changes that much about making good play calls and having a disciplined team that throws it all off?

It's almost a completely different job.

Schemes are much different in the NFL as well, I wouldn't want an NFL playcaller in college or vice versa.

NFL coaches actually get an offseason and can focus way more on just coaching. College coaching is year round and you have to be coach, general manager, and a fund raiser all at once

Trying to motivate NFL players is completely different than college players. It’s why a lot of successful college coaches don’t make it because that rah rah shite doesn’t work on 90% of the players in the NFL.

I would argue the Xs and Os are much closer now than they ever have been. Right now being an NFL coach is much easier on your mental health as a HC than college is

That's not true anymore especially in the power conferences.

It’s still true. The job has gotten bigger and they have more help than they once did. But they’re still doing all those things. Just like GMs have scouts and support staff, coaches have a staff to assist them in that department

Coaches also still have to kiss arse to boosters, especially now. That hasn’t gone away

Recruiting. Boosters. University Presidents. Really bad referees. NIL. Portal.

Pro players are paid but there are caps and you build your team through trades and the Draft. Players don’t opt out or declare they are leaving the team during the playoffs. Only free agents can pick and choose. You get to tag your franchise player.

College teams are way more volatile from year to year.

Prior to NIL, College coaches choose the kids to recruit for their team, NFL coaches have a GM/Player personnel who choose players and FA allows players to choose teams, now they do same thing with NIL/FA

For one thing, NFL players are under contract except for those whose contracts are up and have entered the free agent market.

By contrast, in the current college football world EVERY player is a free agent.

Another notable difference, the average age of all the players on a team is a little older in the NFL than the college.

OP only named college coaches who didn't do so well in the NFL.

Some do well, Harbaugh and Carroll for example.

This makes a lot of sense. I believe you sum it up pretty well.

College players can leave and go play for any team they want without penalty.
