KSR did a look at the Stoops era and made the determination that one play made a difference.
It's interesting to think about. Can you point to one event that impacted your team?
They think Kentuckys is a play in 2022 against Ole Miss.

That was a long 5 minute watch just to see what play supposedly thwarted a Kentucky football dynasty from emerging.
Truth alert: it didn’t change anything other than the outcome of that one game.

If only you knew that for sure.

A hinge play for UGA was the SECCG vs Bama in 2012.
For those who don't remember, UGA was in the Bama red zone with little time remaining and no time outs. They ran a play where UGA had a WR open in the end zone. The ball was tipped at the line and another UGA WR caught it in bounds at the 5.
UGA didn't have time to run another play. Had the ball not been tipped, UGA likely wins the game, wins the SEC, makes the BCS title game and likely beats ND for a national title.
The butterfly effect of that would be major.
UGA likely doesn't fire Mark Richt. He stays for 4-5 more years and retires from UGA due to health reasons.
Kirby Smart ends up at SC.
UGA adds a NC in 2012, but loses NC's in 2021 and 2022 and a NC appearance in 2017. UGA's recruiting isn't top 3 in the country every year like it is now, but is more in the 6-10 range... like LSU. Bama gets more southern talent for longer and wins a couple more national titles. Saban may not have retired yet.
Hugely impactful moment for CFB as a whole.

Kentucky 2022:
W Miami-Ohio (6-7), 37-13
W @ Florida (6-7), 26-16
W Youngstown St (FCS), 31-0
W Northern Illinois (3-9), 31-23
L @ Ole Miss (8-5), 19-22
L South Carolina (8-5), 14-24
W Mississippi St (9-4), 27-17
L @ Tennessee (11-2), 6-44
W @ Missouri (6-7), 21-17
L Vanderbilt (5-7), 21-24
L Georgia (15-0), 6-16
W Louisville (8-5), 26-13
L Iowa (8-5), 0-21
So we’re supposed to believe that had Kentucky beat a 5-loss Ole Miss team, somehow the “trajectory of Kentucky football” would have been forever changed, and you all would be competing for championships today?
The above season results is Kentucky football in the Stoops era in a nutshell:
1) Play only two good teams all season long and lose both by double digits (by an average of 24 points).
2) Lose close games to SEC opponents with 5, 5, and 7 losses apiece.
3) Beat 4 OOC cupcakes.
4) Beat SEC teams with records of 6-7, 6-7, and 9-4.
5) Make a bowl despite zero impressive wins and get blown out 0-21.
6) Declare Stoops is an excellent coach.

The national championship game in 2014. Auburn vs FSU. We are dominating the game. Fake punt that even novice fans could see coming. It hurts my heart to this day.

There are many, but the two most recent:
Stop Etienne with a goalline stand, we win the SEC in our first year.
'23 first round playoff game. If Quinn places the ball a little better in his endzone throw we win that one and likely go on to win the natty. (Our team last year matched up with Michigan far better than Washington)

Tyrone Prothro breaking his leg against Florida. Our offense went in the tank. We squeaked out wins on the back of our elite defense, but couldn’t muster anything offensively against LSU and Auburn. That team in 2005 had a championship caliber defense and was at minimum formidable on the offensive side until Prothro got hurt
If they compete for a natty instead of a cotton bowl, Shula has a lot more rope in 2006, and it’s more likely that Nick Saban ends up back in Baton Rouge

One internet producer's opinion trying to get some clicks. You won't find a sane UK football fan who believes that.

It was karma for Shula. Bama was way ahead at the end of the game and he was trying to run up the score. Hated it for Prothro as it ruined a potentially lucrative pro career. Not so for Shula

AutoMac's FG v Mississippi State would have changed our trajectory as well. Stoops would have gotten canned that season and we would have had someone else coaching the last 10 yrs, for better or worse.

The first Arkansas game vs USC with Gus Bus as offensive coordinator and Nutt as the head coach. This was back before teams were the HUNH fast game that GUS was running in highschool. Nobody knew if it would work or not and the team was kind of shaky on it.. meaning nobody thought you could run a high school offense in college.
We came out running it and the stadium was on fire for the first 3 or 4 plays… had USC pretty confused. Then there was a running play with Felix Jones around the end where he ran something like 30 yards but then fumbled and turned it over. Nutt got scared and shut it down.
We ended up getting destroyed by 50 or something crazy and didn’t try the scheme into late in the game… when we ran it then we scored a TD in something like 45 seconds going all the way down the field.
That fumble destroyed whatever little confidence Nutt had with the system… if he would have just stayed with it we probably would have beat USC and who knows what would have happened for years to come as teams slowly tried to figure out what GUS was doing.

1980 Run Lindsay Run
Uga hits a 93 yard td with under a minute to go on 3&7. That play not only allowed uga to win their first national title but it also could’ve been UF’s first SEC title

You seem slightly delusional. How’s Kirby’s sack taste?
