Isn’t it part of Byrne’s job to raise money? I know this thread is really meant for trolling, but the truth is that athletic departments make a lot of money, but they also have to spend a lot of money to make all of these sports and sporting events happen. NIL is now one more thing that they have to spend money on (through the collectives), and the cost of NIL continues to rise. That being the case, it seems pretty logical that athletic departments want to bring in every dollar that they can to cover the all of these rising costs, including NIL.

Well I don’t want to spoil it but just a friendly reminder, famous Alabama graduate and Nobel laureate (both are equally believable) - EarlyCuyler - is legally required to remain 5 football fields away from any public or private school (it’s for the sake of the kids).

Byrne hasn’t said anything controversial. The reason you keep seeing his name is the other 13 SEC schools have deferred to Bama to speak to the greater good. When other schools’ ADs or coaches say similar things no one cares because it simply doesn’t carry any weight. It’s a heavy cross to bear, but Alabama walks alone on this righteous path.
