This is where NIL is going. They are just going to be paid employees. This is the point that college football becomes unwatchable.

I was going to say are they going to classes? Thought that ended for a lot of teams a few years ago

Having to show up to a class is racist.

Most are probably using NIL to pay others to do the work

The schools should end the madness and take away all athletic scholarships. Make intercollegiate athletics what it should be. Society would benefit.

No, it isn't, and the suggestion is absurd.

This year's heisman winner is an anthropology major.

Football players only go to class if they want to, majority of their classes are taken online.

And deny all these future engineers their education? I see you haven't thought this through.

Do they even attend class anymore? It seems like it's been a few years since I heard of anyone being academically ineligible.

Correct. Starting next season, universities will be “hiring” their athletes at $22 million per year (likely to increase). That was a part of the House v NCAA settlement.

Made me think about academic eligibility. Schools ought to just make these so-called students maintain academic standards like the rest of the student body. Then if they don't qualify, no NIL, right?

Late 80’s I had an engineering class with a basketball player. Fall class during the season. Saw him first day of class and the final. Doubt many athletes today step foot on campus other than training facilities.

I do not get what people are so upset about. College football has always been NFL farm teams and players have always gotten paid. Now it's just above the table and easier for all teams to do.

How is it absurd? I’m hearing that the Auburn QB is going to make 2.5 to 3 million next year in NIL… it may take that college professor 20 years to make the same amount of money… who is schooling who?

At one time college football was a means to a college education, nice career and financial security. That was the goal. NFL opportunities happened for a few but it wasn’t expected. Today most of the elite recruits see NFL as the end goal. 17-18 years old, no life experience, no back up plan if they don’t make it to the NFL.
