According to a FL Gator X account, OLB Jack Pyburn wanted

1) $45k per month
2) guaranteed starting position
3) guaranteed 3rd down snaps
4) guaranteed increase in rotation snaps

FLA said pound sand and he’s in the portal. 2024 stats were 60 tackles, 1 sack, 1 FF, 1 INT.

I'd believe it if it was something general like "the player wanted too much and they let him go"

but a specific list like that is never going to leak, they'd know exactly who leaked it. it reeks of bullshite

The money is one thing, but if I’m a coach and those playing time/starter demands there, I’m tellingmy NIL money changers they better not saddle me with this guy.

Playing time guarantees or minimums cannot be part of an NIL contract.

This is BS. NIL agreements are written a very specific way to insure they cannot be used as "pay for play" or a pseudo employment contract. They are pay packages put together with off the field obligations in order to qualify for payment. They are month to month so the NIL is not on the hook if the kid transfers or is processed out. Playing time and all that crap is never included.

Only a few people would actually know the $$$ figure and details imo.
1) The Agent
2) The Player
3) The Coaches

I can't imagine a world where any of those three would openly release that information outside of a private conversation. I'm not saying it isn't true, but something doesn't add up for me.

It's classic messageboard retard wanna be recruiting reporter syndrome.

People that make things up are usually very specific, as it projects confidene in the lie.

It was reported by one of our beat reporters who is actually a good journalist. He said he had 2 sources.

I am guessing it was leaked because our genius AD made a big deal about talking about how much NIL money we have to the press, so when Pyburn entered the portal, fans got very upset as he is a fan favorite.

Once fans got mad, this probably leaked to placate the fans because they have all turned on Pyburn pretty quick.

The public assumption on how NIL works is insanely different to how it really works. That story is 100% false. It's written for people who don't understand NIL.

Agents would pray to their personal God that Florida screwed up and wrote this deal. It's a pay for play contract (more snaps, 3rd down snaps etc) which would make the player an employee which would open the doors to unions and revenue sharing.

This is why NIL AGREEMENTS not contracts are written very specifically. They are packages requiring the player to for example visit the car dealership, shoot a commercial, allow his image on an advertisement, make social media posts about a product etc. If he doesn't fulfill his obligation, that portion of the package isn't paid.

For example Luther Burden gets X amount for his image on potato chips. He has to post on social media, eat the chips in public and allow his image in commercials and store posters. It has nothing to do with on field performance.

I think this is all assuming that everything is operating above board and in accordance with NCAA rules.

NIL was not supposed to be part of an offer to sign a LOI. If a player is popular, then they should get portion of the sales for merchandise with their names like jerseys, video games, and more. This I support just like a person going viral on social media, but not pay for play.

School revenues earned based on having the best and most popular students would distribute based on value, not just popularity.

1. Freshmen should be exempt from NIL until they have played a season.
2. Transfers should have to sit a year unless there a coaching change or justifiable family emergency
3. I wish there was some type of points system that gave players value to their popularity and there was a standard amount paid for those values.

Who said anything about writing all that into the deal? Coaches have verbally guaranteed playing time to get players to sign for decades. It doesn't need ot be written into the deal, because by the time football season comes around, Pyburn will have already made $400,000 and can opt out and state publicly that he was guaranteed PT and the coach didn't honor it.

This thread is about a supposed NIL agreement not an under the table verbal. No NIL agent negotiates playing time or game performance into a NIL agreement. All NILs have a very specific structure and wording that No One varies from. That way no NIL collective accidently writes a quasi employment agreement which dismantles everything.

And no NIL agent is risking suspension from the SEC for violating NIL rules because that triggers a suspension from all the conferences.
