Guessing if Clemson had not played Georgia they would have had a first round bye. Guessing they would agree.

Obviously with BKs opening game success, can't say I disagree

Just like I saw the Alabama fans earlier talking about no longer scheduling OOC games either. It serves no purpose any longer and only hurts you near the end.

Big risk, low reward

And the Alabama AD wants to stop all non cupcake OOC games.
Wonder which one has the means to make their wishes fill up their chosen hand?

FWIW I voted no.

Just beat Clemson and the problem is solved.

Wait, this was after Bama fans preached about a tougher schedule was not worth it.

Or am I interpreting the melt wrong?

Same.

And, for what’s it worth, that’s damn good stuff you’re posting in the other thread about the SEC fans thinking it’s still the same conference from 10+ years ago and schools should get into the CFP just because “SEC! SEC!”

Yes, but the preferred solution is to fix the playoff system.

All fans want these games, none of them want to get screwed for playing them because there is no reward.

automatic qualifiers are stupid. Get rid of it and just do the top 12 teams. Idk whose idea it was to even do automatic qualifiers and top 4 conference champions get bye weeks. If your team isn't good enough to be top 12, you don't get in.

Or if they beat georgia or USCe, they'd have a first round bye.

AQ is really dumb, especially with 12 teams. If you don't make the top12, there is probably a good reason for it.

But even with 12 we are going to have these arguments every year because it's just way more teams than really need to be there.

Yes, because sports fans are whiny and it gets exacerbated by sports media.

I said 16 teams would be ok but hell 24 wouldn't bother me a bit. The playoffs will only add to the sport. But we need to reduce some of the cupcake season games.

100%

There is absolutely no reason to play the game. “Good” wins count for nothing. Losses are all that matter and having as few of them as possible.

Involving a committee has led to inconsistencies and bias and favoritism. The arguments will still continue, just like they did when the committee picked the best 4.

There weren't really any problems besides last year with FSU and the right 4 teams got in last year anyways.

When we had the BCS, every game every week was basically a playoff game.

Near every week some huge upset would happen taking some team out.

Schedule strength mattered and big games were encouraged and rewarded.

Now games among the top teams no longer matter, Ohio St loses to Michigan and it doesn't matter. Clemson loses to USC and it doesn't matter. But we are going to pretend like more games have meaning now because of who is going to get the 12th spot etc.

Bring back the BCS.

Wut? There was controversy in 2022, 2017, 2016, and 2014. Some of them were overlooked after the CFP, but the selections were controversial.
