The SEC needs to go back to divisions, move to 9 games schedule, scrap importance of OOC

To me, this is the way…Go back to two divisions. Ensures a somewhat fluid SOS amongst both divisions…Play your 7 division opponents, 1 perm cross divisional, and 1 rotating divisional game annually.
Scrap the P4 OOC requirement and schedule 3 rent a wins.
You still can’t lose to bad teams, but this helps ensure this years Texas type schedule can’t happen again, or an UGA type of extremely tough schedule can’t happen again. It’s probably the best way to make sure scheduling is as even as possible.
West
Alabama
Arkansas
LSU
Mississippi State
Oklahoma
Ole Miss
Texas
Texas A&M
East
Auburn
Florida
Georgia
Kentucky
Missouri
South Carolina
Tennessee
Vanderbilt

I like your idea but Mizz needs to be in the west. Alabama and Auburn to the east.

No. Play the seven in your division, fill the rest with lower level teams, and ease into the playoffs.

Who is Alabama's cross-divisional rival in your scenario? Auburn or Tennessee?

If the P4 conferences can all get on board together, everyone going back to divisions is the way.
It protects the league championship game and its importance. It ensures each P4 league shares in the SOS across each league.
It minimizes the chances of a Boise State being an auto bye in the playoff, because we just won’t play them OOC.
It’s not rocket surgery. If each P4 league stops caring about OOC games, you put middling G5 teams on an island to themselves and force them out of playoff without actually needing the NCAA to do so.
If that makes sense.

I’d go Auburn.
Everyone in the SEC will have to make concessions at some point in a 16 team league. It is what it is.

Bama would be East, Missouri West

Divisions, yes. Nine game conference schedule, why?
The committee values wins, nothing else. Why cannibalize ourselves again?
The B1G got four teams because they're league of cupcakes and were rewarded for it. Nine games? Nope.

My opinion is splitting Big6 as evenly as possible as to not water down one side.
The big picture idea is getting all P4 leagues onboard and somewhat limiting any season interaction with upper G5 teams, essentially stone walling them out of the playoff.
Even schedules across all leagues limits another season of a Boise getting a bye, or an auto qualifier from a G5 league. Assuming of course, the playoff rules are changed to eliminate the rule for highest G5 conference champion getting an auto bid. That rule MUST be changed.

To me, a better idea:
8 twelve team conferences, with divisions ( including ND, or gtfo)
Division winners meet in CCGs, and THAT is the first round of a 16 team playoff
Seed the winners 1-8, and start playing a seeded tourney
The ONLY thing we'll need to hear from any cfp committee is the seeding for the champions.
The CCG losers play each other in bowl games on a rotational basis.

Rotating pods is the way to go.
Divisions rotate yearly. Pods A and B vs. C and D. Then A and C vs. B and D, etc.
Pod A
Texas
Oklahoma
Mizzou
Arkansas
Pod B
LSU
Aggie
Ole Miss
Moo State
Pod C
Alabama
Auburn
Vandy
Tennessee
Pod D
Georgia
Florida
South Carolina
Kentucky

Because we have a 16 team league now. Ensures 1 perm cross divisional opponent and 1 rotating. It also lessens the importance on OOC games. The SEC doesn’t need marquee OOC games any longer. There’s no need at all.

Because you’re still going to have P4 leagues and the changes need to be adjusted to the playoff to eliminate the G5 angle.

As with the SEC, their schedules were extremely different across the board. Indiana had 10 wins against teams with .500 records or worse.
It’s the easiest way to ensure SOS across the board.

Playoff system is fine. Teams playing in conference championships shouldn’t be penalized and drop below those that didn’t.

9 Game SEC Schedule. Pods are the answer. The pod winner guaranteed a spot in CFP.
1. LSU, Alabama, Auburn, Ole Miss, and Mississippi
2. Texas, A&M, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Missouri
3. Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Vandy
4. FSU, Clemson, UNC, Miami, and South Carolina

P4
There is no such thing. There is the Big10 and SEC.
The rest of them lost all the teams that made them a "power conference".
Why in the world should we pretend the ACC is equal to the SEC? USC would be in the playoffs right now, probably with a bye if they played in the ACC. And they are the 5th highest ranked SEC.
Last night in the ACC championship game, neither of those teams had a single ranked win between them. 0.
USC and Ole Miss both have more wins over ranked teams than Clemson, SMU, Indiana and Boise St COMBINED.

The P4 needs to only play each other and suffocate the G5.
You want fairness, have the SEC go 10-6 or better against the other 3 conferences and the SEC will get the most bids. You have out dents in the shields of Penn St and IN by forcing them to play a Texas A&M or Ole Miss every year.

No. The SEC should go to pods and a 7 game conference schedule.
With this playoff structure less conference games is the way.
