ACC Title Game: Clemson vs. SMU
Kickoff:
Let’s go SMU! Roll Mustangs! Beat Dabo’s arse! Who cares about the ACC anyway—this is all about the committee watching.
End of 1st Quarter, Clemson 7 - SMU 3:
C’mon SMU, you’ve gotta step on Klubnik’s neck! Wait...is Sonny Dykes still coaching them? Oh, no—he’s at TCU now. Who even IS your coach? I don’t care! Just win!
Halftime, Clemson 14 - SMU 3:
Welp, SMU looks cooked. Maybe it’s better if Clemson blows them out? Yeah, that’s it—Roll Dabo! Do this for the Tide, big guy. It’s your duty as our favorite backup WR-turned-coach.
Entering the 4th Quarter, Clemson 14 - SMU 13:
Are you kidding me, Mustangs? WHERE was this earlier? OK, new plan: just hold the ball for the next 15 minutes, kick the ugliest field goal imaginable with two seconds left, and let us all go to bed in peace. Please, baby Jesus, Paul Finebaum, and Bear Bryant, make it happen!

Damn it! Whatever, it’s fine. The committee has to see SMU is a paper tiger. Clemson and BYU were their only legit opponents, and they lost both. We’re still in, right? RIGHT?! … Guess we’re the 10-seed now. Whatever. Fine.

Cold sweat. Staring at the ceiling. Whispering to myself: "They can’t leave us out. They won’t leave us out." These next 12 hours are gonna feel like 12 years. What if the committee hates the SEC, loves Notre Dame, and wants to give them an easier path? … Nope, don’t think about it. Just sleep. … Or at least try not to cry.

We may not move in the rankings, but still be left out. If Clemson beats SMU, but SMU stays at 8, 9, or 10, we’ll be ranked 11 and left out because 2 conference champions (Clemson and Big 12 winner) are ranked outside of the top 12. So being ranked 11 wont mean shite, because we’d still be seeded out of the playoffs.
So IF clemson wins, we need to move up to #10 and have SMU fall behind us.

I know they said teams not playing can’t move up, but does that mean theoretically that teams playing could technically “jump” a team that hasn’t played, and move up? I’m still not sure if I’m understanding how this works properly.
