It seems like we really cut down on the long pass completions this season. We definitely gave some up, but it wasn't really something that I came to expect every single game.

Yep, and first 4-5 games of the year we were getting lucky some because guys were definitely getting behind us (mostly Red Morgan). However, that really stopped happening after the Tennessee game.

Considering the turnover and inexperience back there a very impressive year. Linguist and Hitschler earned their paychecks.

I was never really worried about the DBs once I saw what a cunning DB coach we had hired.

You're missing Saab# before he got hurt.

He was solid too, but not quite as good as Hubbard has been.

Of course, some of these stats are up to interpretation on who had responsibility on certain throws, especially with safeties.

Bray Hubbard

For the old timers, Bray reminds me of Tommy Wilcox. I expect him to be All SEC next year and All American the following year if he is still here.

Bray Hubbard was insanely good from his first snap this year.

I didn’t even know the guys name when he first got into the rotation and he legitimately should be considered as an All-American now.

Domani Jackson has been really good. Hearing that we got a guy from USC wasn't very exciting but he ended up being a really good corner.

He has football savvy, and we need more. Reads the QB's eyes and breaks on the ball. Kane's setup on defense allows this for that safety position.

I thought he looked like the best safety at A-Day.

I think we're going to find that this is a system more compatible with bringing in new players from the portal or high school because it is not as complicated as Saban's pattern match zone/man hybrid approach.

I've been impressed with our young DB's all year. Future is bright in the secondary.

I think the secondary was the only part of the team that really exceeded expectations. That's where they took the most losses in the off-season and they kept facing injuries, but it wound up being probably the most consistent part of the defense. Hubbard was a revelation off the bench.

It's the one position on the field I thought got better as the season progressed.

I thought ILB play got markedly better the 2nd half, though I think it had much more to do with understanding reads and the system than anything else.

Is he draft eligible with potential to return? Had a great year by all accounts.

Or will we be rolling with Brown and Mbakwe next season? One of the rare instances where either option would be good for the CB spot.

Starting the season I thought our front four was going to be the strength and the secondary the weakness. That flip flopped. It is easier to fix run defense than pass defense. Hope the rush defense improves. Of course pressure on the passer help secondary. Considering everything, the defense did well this year. Very inconsistent offense.
