This was sent to Tennessee season ticket holders. I'm sure it will be the same formula or close for other SEC teams.

2024 COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFF INFORMATION

HOME FIRST ROUND CFP GAME

If Tennessee is selected to host a First Round College Football Playoff game, 2024 football season ticket holders will receive an invoice for tickets in their current seat location after the selection show on DECEMBER 8. Any remaining tickets will be offered in donor rank order, with additional details provided after the game is announced.

AWAY FIRST ROUND CFP GAME

If Tennessee is selected to play a First Round College Football Playoff game on the road, season ticket holders and donors will have an exclusive opportunity to submit ticket requests. This window will open after the game is announced on DECEMBER 8.

Please note, for regular season SEC away games, as the visiting team, we receive 5,000 tickets. Unfortunately, per College Football Playoff guidelines, visiting teams will only receive 3,500 tickets for first round away games. In receiving 1,500 fewer tickets than a typical SEC away game, we will be able to accommodate less Tennessee Fund donors. Requests will be filled in donor rank order. All requests WILL NOT be filled as we anticipate allocating ONLY ~1,000 tickets to donors (~500 in the lower bowl and ~500 in upper-level seating), after taking care of institutional needs.

Ticket pricing is determined by the CFP. Additional details about a potential First Round home or away game will be provided as it becomes available.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For the first time, the College Football Playoff (CFP) will feature 12 teams this season. Teams seeded 1-4 will receive a first-round bye, teams seeded 5-8 will host a first-round game on campus, while seeds 9-12 travel. Quarterfinal and semifinal games will be played at bowl sites, and the National Championship game will be played at a neutral site.

Below are more details regarding the CFP as well as when and where the Quarterfinals games and beyond are being played:

What do you think a ticket in the nosebleeds in Neyland would go for? List price, I mean.

Yep - we got our SECCG/Playoff/Bowls emails a few weeks ago and they didn't even include anything about road game tickets. The allotments are so small they don't even see the need to pretend like anyone outside of the small circle of massive donors will have a chance to get tickets.

Probably makes sense, though, with the timing of the games (Christmas) and the last second nature (in comparison to regular road games planned in advance).

lol

At UGA the top 250 donors all have probably over $500K lifetime contributions (and that's being conservative, it's likely much more) and will surely gobble up those 1000 tickets.

Basically if you're an average joe fan, even if you've contributed for 30-40 years, you aint getting tickets unless you buy on the secondary market.

Exactly! If you don't have your name on a building or at least a classroom. You are watching from home or paying scalpers $$$$$$.

I think our email said the estimated price was basically $15-20 more than the premium game tickets for our season tickets. Not too bad comparatively. A little more than a normal big home game but less than a Final Four Bowl and much less than a CFP Title Game. And all the season ticket holders had the option to buy, with a large chunk able to buy 2 extras. So that is pretty cool.

Obviously almost all of these games will be uber expensive on the secondary market.

It’s going to be expensive. I’m expecting to pay +$1,000 a seat.

No way in Hell I'll pay that to watch a football game that is going to be televised.

For most regular season matchups I'd agree, but there is no TV of any size that can replicate actually being one of a relatively small number who witness history being made in person.

Think about any huge game you attended where your team came out on top and you were part of the celebration not just in the stadium, but the town takeover afterwards as well. Do you now regret being there and wished you had watched on tv?

I love the on-campus games but there should have been around a 6-8k allowance for visitors, with at least half of those being in the lower deck.

The ADs need to make this happen in the future.

I've witnessed a lot of Vol history. Never regretted any of it.

I will say this. I was at the Battle of Bristol with a crew that we have tailgated all over the place. Every single person said the same thing about that game. Once...NEVER AGAIN.

Big names in Neyland
Big games on the road
SEC Championship games
Naional Championship game
More bowl games than I can remember
Special event games, Bristol, Nashville, Atlanta, Charlotte...

The 2022 Orange Bowl was when I started drawing the line. For the two of us to fly to Miami , hotels, food, and car for 4 days it was going to cost over $5000. I said NO...not to watch a football game.

I would still spend the money for the National Championship game.
