Can someone explain to me why King's fumble should have been a targeting call.....

I haven't seen one angle that showed he was hit in his helmet.

From the angle they had, looked like he hit him in the chest area, or more likely the ball.

You folk do realize your neck moves and when hit is gonna go forward and backwards. Ever heard of whiplash? It's why it's possible to get a concussion without a direct hit to your head. Your head can shake so violently that your brain moves inside your skull.

He went in on the ball…it’s fricking crystal clear. That’s why there was a fumble.

Were the Tech coaches or players saying it was targeting? I didn't see them.

King was a runner. I don’t see it as targeting

The non-holding on a crucial play at the end of regulation was bad.

Best part of the game was Beck trying to do a Haynes King impersonation after his runs

Defender can’t drop their helmet. They have to keep their head up. Defender dropped his helmet and made forcible contact to Kings head.

I think the best part of the game was that Georgia won.

Wild I played less than a decade ago and even then this was a clean hit. Lowest man wins. Helmet ain't popping out he's getting down to make a solid tacole

Man. He put his helmet in his chest. If he caught the lower part of the facemask…which will happen but Jesus. Was he really trying to hurt a defenseless player?

GTFO with that shite. This is football.

Being a runner doesn’t matter when a defender drops their head and makes contact to the carriers head.

Derrick Williams got suspended for less last year in the Big 12 championship.

Hat on ball. That’s why it was fumbled. Not head or neck area.

People hate targeting but wanted it called to ice a rivalry game in unceremonious fashion.

Hits like that are not the spirit of the rule and why it was put in place.

They made bad calls all night that went against both teams. It was embarrassing to say the least

Look at the replay TexasOnTop posted.

You can clearly see the back of his helmet vibrating due to the hit on the front of his helmet.

Your helmet doesn't get knocked back because someone hits you in the chest

His head is gonna pop back. He got hit hard. Happens all the time and why sometimes they throw a targeting flag and have to pick it up when they see targeting didn't occur on replay.

While I get it's a rule, have you ever seen them call a player for lowering their helmet if they hit a player in the, chest, back, etc? It's almost always when heads collide or the neck area. And players do it all the time.

No, but 99% of targeting calls aren’t because the defender is trying to hurt someone. It’s by definition targeting.

The only questionable call that went in Tech’s favor was the PI on the 5th OT. And it never would have gone into OT in the first place if the officials hadn’t kept favoring UGA in regulation,
