I have always been in the camp of defending field rushes. However I have to admit they’ve gotten out of hand recently. There’s like 4-5 per week nationally.

Now it’s like any close win warrants a field rush. Not just an upset or big win. As long as it’s exciting

I don’t really mind it one way or the other. Some people act like it is an act of mass criminality which is ridiculous.

Of course, it has also lost a lot of its weight because it happens every single weekend now, and sometimes it happens multiple times in the same weekend. Just like all things, an increase in supply decreases the value.

for the record OU has done it 2 times in 30 years. Only reason they did it this time was Bama was the game OU fans had wanted at home and all the injuries and Senior night!

It is greatly overdone, and not quite harmless. If you are with the visiting team, it makes getting off the field an adventure. At South Carolina, fans trying to get into position to rush the field blocked the exits. I was with a friend who was having some kind of medical issue, and we were lucky that it wasn’t more serious because I had to play fullback and open up a hole just so that we could get out.

I was quite happy that we didn’t rush the field after beating LSU. Beating the top ranked team, or a team you haven’t beaten in a long time at least makes it understandable. But nowadays, it seems to just be folks looking for attention and not a spontaneous reaction of pure emotion.

Does not bother me anymore. I hated it because it was your own people saying that we had no business winning this game but we did...

Now, i dont care. What bothers me is the constant betting info that has permeated every sport to the point that every sports talk show covers the lines. Gambling is way more destructive to the public than any field storms. FTR, i am not against gambling but it has gotten out of control and our younger generation is hooked on it.

It usually takes a close, exciting game for fans to rush the field.

When Troy won the SBC in 22 and 23, the fans were invited onto the field. Granted, it was only 30k people but still it was fun.

I am guessing the sports books offer odds on the home crowd storming the field or not in case of a win with a prop bet for goal posts coming down or not.

I only ask for one rule:

You are not allowed to rush the field after beating a team that hasn't played for the SEC title since the 91 expansion.

Otherwise, carry on.

Upset wins are commonplace this season. Hence, field rushes.

Or parking lot rush, if youre LSU

You’re forgetting that sometimes a win isn’t just an upset. Sometimes it’s the ticketpunch to the Championship.

That would be why Arizona State rushed

I don’t care. But the fine money should go to a variety of charities. Like the Danny Thomas children’s hospital in Memphis. Shriner’s Hospitals.

Same as it ever was except there is more tv coverage that’s the difference.

Just ban fans from the games and that will solve the problem.
