I said earlier in the week that their utterly shittastic rankings are likely not just the byproduct of being imbeciles, but a calculated intentional effort due to their Big10 leanings. I decided to write down some specifics to share with the board for everyone else's knowledge as well. Here is the 2024 CFP Committee and their "main" conference affiliation:
Warde Manuel - Chairman
Michigan grad and AD. Fought tooth and nail to protect his program from blatant and rampant cheating that would've brought down almost any other program. Vividly remembers that absolute arse thrashing administered by UGA in the orange bowl 3 years ago. Affiliation: Big 10
Chris Ault
28 years as Nevada HC. Affiliation: G5
Chet Gladchuk
Navy AD for 22 years. Houston before that. BC before that; BC Grad. Some time at Syracuse as well. Affiliation: ACC/G5
Jim Grobe
coach at Ohio, Wake Forest, and Baylor. Virginia grad. Affiliation: ACC
Randall McDaniel
AzSt player and grad. Spent the last 30+ years in Minnesota doing stuff. Affiliation: Maybe Pac if only looking at undergrad, or maybe just the Midwest (Big10?) in general
Gary Pinkel
Ohio man that coached Toledo and Missouri. Was a part of the SEC for just 3 seasons. Affiliation: Big 12/midwest and a little SEC
Mack Rhoades
Baylor guy. Had small stretches at missouri, Houston, akron, Marquette, and several more. Grad of Arizona and Indiana. Affiliations: Big 12 mostly with a little Pac/Big10
Mike Riley
Bama grad 50 years ago. Oregon St coach for 13 years then Nebraska for a bit: Main affiliation: Big10
David Sayler
Miami (OH) AD for 11 years. Very brief stretches elsewhere for a while before that as well as private sector in Chicago and Cleveland. Affiliation: G5 mostly
Will Shields
Nebraska All american. Affiliation: Big 10
Kelly Whiteside
Sports writer. Rutgers grad. Professor as small school in new jersey. Affiliation: Big 10
Carla Williams
UGA grad that went on to follow in michael adams' footsteps of hating athletics and caring more about punishing players and propping up academics. 7 year AD for Virginia. Affiliation: ACC and SEC
Hunter Yurachek
Spent time at some lower level ACC schools before being the Arkansas AD for the last 7 years. Affiliation: SEC and ACC
Of the 13 total members, 5 lean HEAVILY on a big 10 affiliation including the chairman. 2 of them are primarly G5 folks and 3 have their primary focus on the ACC.
There are only 2 people (15%) that you can kinda say are big SEC proponents in Pinkel and Yurachek, and who knows with Pinkel. Honestly the Arkansas AD is the only guy that I would feel fully confident in saying is going to bat for the SEC.
Is there any wonder why the rankings look like they do?

Until the committee is changed around, the CFP will be heavy Big Ten.
Indiana, even if they get TCUd, isn't going to be left out. It's just not going to happen.
I think we'd all like a basketball or baseball approach to this, where scheduling and context of losses matter. But it's not going to happen in this format. They've told you as much. It's purely W-L.
They're also trying to push the SEC to 9 conference games. If that happens, the path to Atlanta will always be around who has the most advantageous schedule, based on who's up and who's rebuilding in the SEC.
The rest of the country truly hates this conference. This CFP is a way to ensure we all beat each other up, and that artificial parity is achieved.

I think their fate will be the biggest indicator if the committee is even attempting to appear impartial or if they truly DGAF.
If indiana loses to OSU, they have no business being the playoff.

You have some machinations in the media to prop up IU no matter what. And listen, they're a fresh story. They've dominated their schedule. Props to them.
But even though I don't think they belong (same with PSU), I don't think they're staying home.
You'll have teams that would have been better in the CFP, and more likely to win a game, staying home, in favor of B10 bias.

What'll really chap my hide is if UGA has to go to indiana or PS in round 1. I mean what kind of message does that really send?
IU/PSU would have played a laugher of a schedule full of absolutely nothing but tomato cans aside from 1 actually hard team, which they lost to. UGA would have played a murderer's row with the #1 SOS in the country with 3 high profile wins but 1 additional loss, and we then have to go on the road in round 1? I'm already pissed just thinking about it

First things first, abolish the committee and use the BCS rankings to determine 1-25.
Secondly, no committee member should be employed by any of the Div 1 FBS football schools. There should be a 3-5 year waiting period after their last role at a member institution before being able to join.
Thirdly, all members should have actual intimate knowledge of the game - coach, player, AD, etc. For example, Condoleezza Rice had no business being on the committee.
Finally, there should be alternates, and the committee can remove obviously biased voters.

I think a key piece of the rankings is that the committee is still treating wins over Michigan as significant. Their ranking of Texas and the Big 10 schools is largely dependent on that assumption, and that assumption is clearly prone to the bias coming from the commissioner of the CFP committee.

Different perspectives, of course. But as an SC fan, I'd be thrilled to get in and go frick up IU or PSU on their home field. Prove that we belong, and more importantly, that they don't. Knowing crazy Carolina fans, they'd try to take over the stadium (like y'all did at ND a few years back).
UGA has had a helluva schedule, for sure. But, you're battle tested as a result. If you get in, go take it.
We're one flag away from being in the exact same place.

I saw someone the other day say "everyone else benefits from UGA's reputation, except for UGA" and it sounds so true. Bama and Ole miss get signature wins from us. Clemson, Tex, and Tenn get an excellent "quality loss". yet the commitee has us ranked low as frick lol.

I would love a first round matchup against Indiana. PSU would be my second choice.

my frustration would be more selfish. UGA has played this epic schedule, but very little of it has been played in Athens. It would be an epic championship if Georgia overcame that challenge, but it’s pretty lame that our fans and players would get to enjoy very little of it at home games.
It feels like this UGA season has been for the enjoyment of the national audience rather than its own fans, to WG’s point above.

I see all these UGA fans bitching about the rankings & I don't know why. You're in. Congrats.
Bama has the same record & a H2H win & we're going to be forced to win the SEC in order to get in.

The only fanbase I see crying about rankings on the board are UGA fans.

Oh boo hoo. At least you get to make the playoffs

Maybe, but what difference does it make? The committee has signaled that you're in. It's not like they stuck you at #16 or something. All you have to do is beat a middling ACC team & your tickets punched.
JFC you got your arse kicked just two weeks ago & got punished for it. Deal with it.
