You’ve barely scratched the surface of Moon Pie serendipity.

You need to kick it up a notch by tossing a couple of ‘em in a deep fryer & served up piping hot generously sprinkled with powdered sugar.

Damn that sounds Awesome !! I dont have a deep fryer I'll have to take some with me to the State Fair next year and find the place that deep fries butter to give it a glaze.

My dog liked it too he bounced around wanting more.

No deep fryer, no problem.

(although I’d highly recommend a nominal purchase investment of a basic small electric Fry-Daddy going forward …you know?…‘cause you can fry up ALL kinds of different $hit in one of those little bad-boys)

Get your trusty “go-to” cast iron skillet good and hot with about an inch or so depth of Crisco (or any Lard of your particular preference) going at about 375 degrees.

Coat your Moon Pies in a flour/sugar/buttermilk/egg batter mixture (with a couple of generous pinches of baking powder)

Plop ‘em in…fry until bottom side is golden brown with a crispy crust…flip those suckers over…do the same thing on the opposite side…gently remove and put ‘em on parchment paper…hit ‘em up with the powdered sugar finishing coating ….

…and f@#king Bon Appétit !!

I get started deep frying moon pies I'm going to end up fat. I won't be able to stop after 3.

Then maybe it’s for the best if you don’t pull the trigger for the (nominal) investment in a Fry Daddy.

‘Cause you gotta go “full immersion” for my current favorite…Deep-Fried-Ice-Cream-Sandwich.

Not only do you need the full “dunk” in the fryer, you gotta crank the oil heat up to the max in order to maintain the internal texture & integrity of the Ice Cream Sandwich, while simultaneously rendering a crispy golden outer crust.

It requires more of a “fast & furious” precision frying technique.

Your Moon Pie

Would it shock you to know that Mobile, Alabama rings in the New Year with a massive MoonPie drop, much like the Times Square ball?

I was working in Mobile for a few days and attended Mardi Gras one evening. It was cool !! Got a half dozen Moon pies tossed to me which gave me snacks for the rest of the week. One float threw me a bag of Ramen Noodles.

I like the hot pork rinds can't do the regular. RC has always been one of my favorite soft drinks. Moon pies I have to have banana.
