Mettenberger was a tough kid who shook it off.

Now the only thing getting hurt by that are the feelings of LSU fans. They could learn something from Mettenberger.

I think BK thought he would inherit talent and run things like a Big 10 game. He has not learned anything in the SEC. Only how to make excuses. He just doesn't have the ability to win big games and never will.
He inherited 39 players, and knew what he was getting into.

i guess since you're rolling all over the place laughing, you missed where i said he's avoiding the portal for the most part and building through recruiting. he has said as much this offseason, if your #1 priority is to get paid, LSU is not the place for you. development, teamwork, a shot at the NFL and being paid along the way is his way. and this is his 3rd season coaching, basically 2 years in with 10 wins and 7 games into year 3......and this is his 3rd recruiting class he's about to wrap up and it appears to be pretty high. i like where we're at moving forward. good luck at USCe this weekend.
They ain't gonna like this one bit...

Don't forget - Miles followed Saban, Kelly followed O.

He had a roster of 72 players his first year. He was hired at the end of November and had the ability to keep anyone on the roster and/or bring in anyone in recruiting and/or the portal.

LSU fans are the only people who don't count the incoming class and the only year it's done is to make excuses for Brian Kelly.

Can cut him some slack because he didn't have a full year, and that's fine. But claiming 39 while pretending like he worked some miracle and all that is bullshite.

They also love touting that Kelly doesn't like the portal because of culture, development, team, etc. Which is a complete loser mentality and shows LSU is falling behind the new normal of college football.

Reality is, whenever a fanbase is having to goaltend this much for a coach, he's probably not the answer.

Can you just let me be happy with 10 win Kelly? It's better than Florida or Auburn.

The SEC isn't near as interesting or colorful without the likes of the HBCs, Houston Nutts and Les Mileses of the world.

You need to build a foundation before heading to the portal. You build foundation with recruiting and then you fill in the gaps later on with portal players.

Otherwise, you end up like Ole Miss or FSU.

I'm still bullish on Brian Kelly, but the wheels can come flying out with a quickness if he stumbles down the home stretch.

Heading into the season, I felt the following for Kelly and LSU:

Must Wins:
USCw / UCLA / Ole Miss / Vandy

Can't Lose because of potential lame duck head coaches:
USCe / Arkansas / Florida

Win 1 of 3:
A&M / Bama / OU

They dropped the USCw and A&M games so now Bama and OU are Must Wins.

Season is still in front of us.
