Isn't it interesting how everyone on tRant who is not Ole Miss bashes Kiffin at every opportunity except when their coach is on the hot seat. Then he is at or close to the top of their wish list.

Everyone will say it’s Lane Kiffin but in reality it’s Charlie Weiss. The guy runs an undisciplined offense, doesn’t hold his assistant coaches accountable and once the script that is formulated with Lane is run he is as predictable as lot lizard near Christmas.

I have actually wondered this also.
It could also be because we make some obvious and boneheaded as shite penalties during crucial times in SEC play.

That is freaking crazy. Here is how the SEC teams currently look with their yards per play differential (from sports-reference.com):

Arkansas - +1.4
aTm - +0.9
LSU - +0.7

So...while Ole Miss is having an incredible year...I don't know that I would consider Auburn "Championship Quality" right now (using this criteria)...even with their big win over Kentucky.

A few things.
1. We can't score in the redzone. This is due to a combination of not having an elite running back and a below average offensive line.
2. Penalties. My God we commit a lot of stupid penalties on both sides of the ball. I don't know where we are ranked in terms of penalty yardage, but last I checked, we are outside the top 100.
3. Play-calling. Up until this past weekend, I'd been thinking that our offense looked very vanilla and somewhat predictable. It felt like we either called a run up the middle, deep shot, or curl route to Tre Harris about 90% of the time. We finally started mixing it up this past weekend, but I don't think it will matter much.

Penalties and Injuries and costly turnovers.
O line was in shambles the first 3 conference games. UK game we had a ton of PI calls that extended UK drives, UK hit a big 4th down play and we fumbled in the RedZone. Also missed a FG to send it to OT.
Those don't show up in the stats. If we win that game, we would be top 10 and have really high odds to make the playoffs.
The problem is we lost that game. 7-1 with a loss in OT at Tiger stadium looks a lot different than 6-2 with a loss at home to UK. But we decided to shite the bed that day.

Kiffin has looked miserable on the sidelines this season, I don't think he likes this year's team. Maybe too many mercenaries in the locker room?

We can't run the ball when needed, leads to stalling out in the redzone. How many points did we leave on the field against LSU? 17 in the first half. Same with Kentucky.
Sicking... 6 pts from being 8-0... Mainly due to lack of run offense.

How is this team even ranked? Lost to an unranked UK team, lost to a mid-ranked (at the time) LSU team and as of now, the remaining schedule includes one ranked team (UGA). The only ranked team was LSU and the Black Bears/Rebels/Landsharks took an L. They beat up on four bags of flour (can't even call them cupcakes 'cause they weren't ready for the oven) and struggled for a bit with a horrible OU team. Combined records of opponents is 30-32 with only 3 above .500.
IF Arkansas plays up to it potential Saturday, doesn't turn the ball over and commit dumb penalties, this has the potential for a blowout.

I mean yea... If OM doesn't play up to theirs, turns the ball over, continues to keep drives alive with dumb penalties it could keep Arkansas in the game.
I think this could be applied to just about every SEC game....
