"He said they weren’t as mentally strong as us, and that we were going to prove it during the second half. He said they couldn’t go the distance with us, and that we were going to tire their asses out."

Dude was a prophet.

Never seen an LSU team bullied that badly.

I think for a while that’s what yall have been lacking. The head game has always been aggy’s biggest issue, imo

LSU players must have thought they were still in Death Valley, where everyone leaves in the 3rd quarter.

I don't think mental strength or fatigue had anything to do with it, LSU just had no answer for Reed.

A&M ran 4 plays and punted on their first drive out of the half and went 3 and out on their second. Nothing really changed.

Then Nuss throws a pick that ends with the ball at the LSU 8, Reed comes in and that's all she wrote.

I'd have to go back and rewatch to be sure but it looked like they were using Major Burns as the guy responsible for the QB on the read option and he's woefully inadequate. LSU's safeties are horrific at open field tackling and A&M exploited that in the second half.

That situation is where you really miss Harold Perkins.

When you throw 3 picks deep in your own territory it doesn’t take much mental strength to beat that team.

Game was very close to being over in the first half, but credit to A&M for taking advantage of LSU mistakes.

“Mental toughness” is fodder for fans.

It was more than just the change to Reed.

A&M’s defense started shutting LSU down. There was no running game and LSU was relying entirely on Nussmeier making a play every snap. I can’t find second half stats but I’m confident it was much different than the first.

That doesn’t even consider that LSU’s special teams were, shall we say, unreliable.

Yep. LSU sometimes doesn't have the talent and sometimes has a case of the dumbass but they rarely get physically whipped. Elko had the Ags playing tough

So why did Nussmeier throw 2 more picks after that? Reed wasn’t playing defense.

Mentally tough my arse. He was doing coach speak yo hype his team up. LSU punked them in the first half then gave the game away.

Burns never wraps up when he tackles, he usually leads with his shoulder and tries to thump the runner. He misses a ton of tackles.

This is the dumbest cope excuse ever.

The botched FG snap, I guess you could say is “throwing the game away”.

Not being able to stop a team from getting 242 yards and 5 TD on the ground is not “throwing the game away”. You know exactly what A&M was going to do and you could not stop it to save your season.

The Nuss interceptions, all the other errors can also be attributed to folding under pressure. A symptom of not having mental toughness.

They were shutting LSU down before halftime, outside of the play to Anderson.

I think most of us were expecting a comeback when the score was 17-7 at half. That is like the quintessential score for a team at home to mount a comeback. LSU has no killer instinct and can't run the ball on anyone. When you have Nussmeier throw it 50 times a game, he is going to throw picks.

It wasn't Reed who was holding yall to 4 yards rushing in the second half, causing Nuss to run for his life, and making your offense looked physically dominated.

One of them, Nuss just threw to A&M, believe the first.

One of them, he was being pressured and made a dumb throw scrambling to his left, credit to A&M for the pressure. And one, they just outsmarted him and baited him into a bad throw. This is where the guy simulates pressure and drops back into coverage.

I guess we could either chalk that up to Nuss not being mentally tough or just good adjustments and play by A&M.
